Recipe for roadkill?

Today, I found out I was not a pheasant plucker, because you really don't need to pluck them - just skin 'em.
It was hit just ahead of me, and landed up in the oncoming lane - fresh roadkill with neck busted. As it hadn't been flattened, it's about the freshest game I could hope to find.

The buggers are everywhere, it must be mating season for them, though it's not actually hunting season. The fun part was finding out that the eggsacs explode in the microwave, as I thought I'd give the dog an early taster


Anyone else ever cooked up a nice roadkill?

I rely on not seeing/cutting the animal until its in a plastic or paper packet...

That is a beauty. Normally have fresh pheasant when I visit some friends in Devon. I once stuck my fingers up a pigeons bottom to get the entrails out.

NB Not a random pigeon, but a plucked one at a Roman Exhibition.

I understand that the bacteria will start to tenderize the meat and soften the muscles if game is hung. Some prefer it going off but since I don't want it smelling up the house or attracting flies in the shed I'll stick to the regular poultry style until I feel more confident about eating rotting meat

You hang game (pheasant isn't poultry)
