The real reason is that he has finished his purple patch and is now reverting to the normal form that we saw last season.
I really hope I'm wrong, obviously.
I am too, sir. I genuinely hope I'm wrong, but to me, he doesn't look like a striker who is going to get us promoted. I'm not saying he's a league one striker, but he is massively overrated IMO.Or, his injury interrupted his real form and is now out of form. I'm a glass half full kind of guy

I'm not sure this is true. Tactics aside, the fact is that you need to be clinical at the top end of the game, and you wouldn't trust any of our strikers to score from the penalty spot at the moment, let alone a perfectly presentable one-on-one at our arch rivals. Its simple - we've gone from a more direct style of play we were playing at the start of the season to a more possession based game again. The former suits his style more than the possession game.

We are still creating a shit ton of chances like we did earlier this season they are just not being converted.

True, but I don't think it's unreasonable that we concentrate specifically on what our £3m *striker* brings to the table in this respect.by everyone (with exception of buckers maybe)

The problem is that we are only creating 1 or 2 good chances a game. Not even Messi and Ronaldo score every chance that they get so to expect CMS and Barnes to do so is silly. At the start of the season we were creating loads of chances and they were both scoring goals.
I like the bloke but he's got to develop his game pretty sharpish I reckon
He's almost 30.
I think 90% of his game is latching on to the ball over the top or slid through the channel.
Yeah I was going to say something about that but chose not to. There are examples of players developing (yet) further at his age but I accept they are in a large minority. I'm just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt ... he wouldn't have got any decent coaching at D&R and Posh probably made him worse with their "Charge!" approach to the game. When I was putting up my post I was just wondering if some decent coaching and focus could develop him. Hence using the word sharpish!
I still think he's got potential but it's getting increasingly difficult to have a meaningful argument to support that view
