Perhaps this result will convince Pellegrini to start trying some tactical work on the training ground?! Rather than just let the players do as they please, train how they want and turn up on the match day and get told to do what they can and hope for the best. ??? A real pity that noone can organise that Real Madrid team, it could be amazing. It SHOULD be amazing.

We had the game live on terrestrial TV here and it was a cracking match.

Real were superb for the first 20 minutes or so and looked like they would thrash Lyon. The turning point was clearly the woeful miss by Higuain.

The two half-time substitutions changed the game with Toulalan immense at centre-half. Real hardly had any semblance of a chance in the last half-hour.

Kaka was absolutely furious at being substituted - he certainly showed his contempt for his manager. As ever with Real, the team is unbalanced with too much money thrown at the attacking players and the defence always looking vulnerable.

I would imagine Mourinho may have a good chance of being in charge there next season.

Lyon deserve a lot of credit, though. They were completely in charge after the break and kept the ball superbly.

You'd have to say, whatever you think of R.Madrid, that Man City saved a load of money by not getting Kaka, who is truly living up to his name in Spain.
