I've been convinced he's leaving since January, but after last night, something in me is telling me that he will want to give it one more season to show what he can really do. He doesn't strike me as the sort of person that will want to leave a job without giving his absolute best.

Yep. For me, there has to be more focus on how we defend. I'm guessing an enormous amount of training time and effort is spent on how we pass out from the defence....and that's all about attack. But without Caicedo and AliMac we really need different tactics if we're to avoid being continually turned over by breakaways and balls over the top.

The absence of Pedro and Mitoma contributes directly to our reduction in goals scored; but the absence of good tactics is the main reason IMO for the number of goals shipped.

Agreed - it’s obvious since the West Ham defeat we play full backs up on the half way line, you have Dunk and Van Hecke stepping up as well so it’s easy to find space and counter. A few times yesterday Adringa was having to cover at the back.

RDZ whole career has consisted of shipping a lot of goals so it’s on him to improve that. No top club will risk a manager who can’t keep clean sheets

We may not be ready to go to that level for a number of years, that’s also fine. To this point as an example I don’t think we expected to sell Mac and Caicedo in the same season, I suspect keeping Caicedo with gilmour and gross next to him would have been sufficient and also time for Baleba to develop (accepting we may not have bought Baleba if he had stayed) however we were offered willing money to let him leave as well and of course we took it.

I wouldnt be surprised having got into Europe, there’s an acceptance of consolidation this season within the boardroom whilst we we rebuild the midfield that contributed massively to our success last year.

A long time? My understanding from interviews with the likes of Dunk is that it took about 2 weeks for the players to adapt. All I have seen is raw players being coached into good players. JPV. Facu. Even Pedro had morphed into an all-action monster before the recent injury. I suspect that anyone standing around scratching their arse will find themselves out of the squad.

I think we simply need three new top class signings, and I am hopeful Bloom will take advantage of a shifting market in the Summer, with lots of clubs needing to unload due to FFP, and deploy some of the riches we plucked from players sales, passim.

I can’t explain exactly why, but I think we’ll exploit FFP to sign Dewsbury Hall and Colwill, both of whom would be ‘pure profit’ for their clubs. That would be very good business!

How have we over achieved in Europe? With the group we were fortunate enough to be drawn in, qualification should have been expected. We're now likely to be knocked out in the first knock out stage.

We were slightly unfortunate to be drawn against a good Roma side who should have been in the same side of the draw as us as they should have won their group but choked and are now revitalized after fraud Mourinho left. But before the season started, we were the second favourites and were fourth favourites even as recently as just after the last 16 draw was made, I would have expected last eight at least in the Europa League to be honest.

Good that he knocked back the question about lack of support from above. Whatever he feels about the situation, it’d be better for everyone I think if he talked less about the owner. Most bosses would steer clear. Seems to come up constantly. Due to his honesty perhaps but ripe for misinterpretation and does little more than create an unsettling mood. Can’t see the benefit.

I know he was asked about it specifically in this instance but that hasn’t always been the case.

I accept your point, but for me I just love his interviews as I think they are a breath of fresh air compared to the usual managers comments, which are all dull with an aim to say as little as possible.

As someone who watches a lot of European football - if not easy, I think it was definitely a group we should have topped which we did.

Par performance, not over achievement as quoted as we’ve then capitulated at the first hurdle of a decent side.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Topping that group in our inaugural season in Europe was, I think, an impressive achievement and one I will be forever proud of. Sorry to see you're a bit "meh" about the whole European tour thing.

Liverpool had Toulouse, Union SG, LASK (then Sparta P)

Fair to say we had 3 teams in our group that EVERYONE had at least heard of, with a far greater standing in European competition. Then drew last years Finalists. It couldn't have been much tougher.

Yeah I totally agree with that. Sure we could've had some poxy little club nobody could even point to on a map, much less pronounce, in some poky little ground and we'd have had a better chance of progressing. But it was FAR more exciting rubbing shoulders with European royalty, genuinely famous names. A proper adventure to look back on with pride.

I was thrilled with the group, and thrilled to get Roma. Ok its been a step too far, but its been something really special.
