I agree he’s ‘passionate’ but I would be very surprised if the MC drama (or the Tross drama) effected him enough for any despondence about that to spill out into a presser. He was really calm and level headed throughout the Tross drama and while admitting loosing MC could jeopardise our challenge for Europe, he also said in a later more pragmatic response, that he was ‘prepared’ for the team to play on without him.. suggesting no one is indispensable.
In terms of buying in, he is not the ‘Chairman’ as he has pointed out and he’s been here before at Sassuolo (managing a top tier team on a tight budget) so would already have understood what the transfer parameters would be at the time Brighton interviewed him and taken that on board before taking the job. I am not worried that he’s newly discovered a ‘hidden’ intransigence with the Club when it comes to buying in.
My personal impression of RDZ‘s mood in the post-match presser and on the pitch was that it was more to do with the level of football on Saturday and with Liverpool’s shitehousery (but that’s maybe me projecting!) we did not play the smooth, ground- passing football we’ve seen recently (we lost possession too quickly, had gaps in our defence and were obviously weak in MF without Moises (and Lallana) so our transition pick ups from the back was patchy at times which are a central key in De Zerbiism). The attacks on Mackie and Fergie were red-card atrocious (RDZ is very protective of his players as we’ve seen from the touchline in the past) he looked concerned about having to take off Webster so early - also he looked furious at the length of time it took for VAR to review Mitoma’s goal. Just a tough day at the office.
