I really like Andy Gray as a commentator BUT Wilkins is on another level.

What?! I think he seems he's a good coach...Chelsea's capitulation showed that earlier this season..but he's not a great media personality. Wilkins' attempt to become more camp than Mark Lawrenson in this first half has included such quotes as 'I'm a great lover of Jack Wilshire'

Poor compared to Gray imo. They both probably spout the same sort of rubbish but at least Gray was entertaining 'take a bow' etc. Wilkins is just monotone and boring!

I like Wilkins, he talks a good game, sometimes goes abit off topic and sometimes his opinions are abit shoddy....but overall he's much better than that twat Gray IMO

I was going to play "Exceptional Bingo" again, but couldn't really hear properly in the pub.

I reckon there must have been at least 4 tonight though.

The pub we were in in Rochdale had the footie on in Albanian, I think that commentary was by far and away better to listen to than 90% of the shite that comentators talk on our TV. That said, it is almost exclusivley the BBC (TV & Radio) and ITV that spoils it, why are they ever allowed to have anything to do with the beautifual game? I really cannot stand any of them. Sky is a lot better, but when someone like Wilkins is on I just find him negative, and he seems to change like the wind. One minute last night he seemed to have nothing good to say about Arsenal, Spurs were the DsBs, then, without warning, he became Arsenals number 1 fan. I think I prefer impartiality, which to be fair is what you do seem to get most of the time with Sky, maybe Wilkins just needs time to learn his trade, or he could move to the BBC, then I'd never have to hear him again.

So much better than Andy Gray actually knows what he is talking about and doesn't have a go at the officials all the time. first time I've heard a whole commentary by him and I hope he does a lot more

Wilkins is absolute dirge. He calls everyone by their first names as if he is their best pal and at least has to get 10 wonderfuls, 20 young mans and 30 exceptionals into every game (is he on a bung to do this by some online betting firm?) no one ever does anything poor or sh1te in a game "they are just disappointed in that" but are a "wonderful player" normally. He might as well tape before hand what he says and just leave a tape recorder there. Absolutely woeful.

Could he be the Tim Lovejoy that Tim Lovejoy based his act on?

How glad I am it was Graeme Souness and not Ray Wilkins co-commentating last night.

We got
a) A co-commentator who did not speak too much
b) when he did he made valid points. He said virtually in the 1st minute what a good goalie Neuer was and so he proved to be
c) He offered insights into why Shalke weren't doing so well. Not pressing up enough given Giggs, Carrick too much time on the ball, possibly nerves, being overawed by the occasion.

What we did not get
a) ar5e licking of every Man Utd player, especially Utd legends like Ryan Giggs
b) calling players by their first name
c) the use of the phrase "wonderful" 20 times
d) calling Utd "we"
e) refering to every player as a young man.
f) unnecessary campness

Well done Greame Souness.
