According to the Argus, there were three separate raves in the Downs on Saturday night. We were camping in Wiston, near Steyning, that night and heard it all pumping away until 5am or so. Felt like tracking it down and having a boogie myself!

Anyone on here go? And where exactly was it? The farmer who runs the campsite said they're pretty regular. Cannot believe how far sound travels at night in the countryside. Got to say, I did feel sorry for the local villagers

About ten years ago when I lived in Lancing I could hear a loud music bass beat about 5am one Sunday morning in the summer.
I assumed it was some inconsiderate neighbours nearby so I pulled some clothes on and tried to follow the sound.
I lived in Crabtree Lane and it sounded like it was coming from the north so I walked up around the streets behind my house, no joy there so then up to the A27. It still sounded like it was coming from the North so I crossed the A27 and up North Lancing as far as I could go before I got to the downs.
I could still hear it but had no idea where it was coming from so, yes, it is amazing how far noise travels but at least I got a nice walk.

Bloody hell, that is a walk! :lolol:

We spoke to the farmer the next morning, and he reckoned it was three to four miles away.

Some friends of mine organised the one near Lewes. It is just a shame they always insist on playing Trance.

Dancing in the countryside :rave:

Dancing to trance music for more than 10 minutes

I went to a couple last summer. Luckily trance wasn't being played, it was mainly house.

Where are these "advertised", as it were?

Hang out with a load of crusties and then they tell you about them.

When I was in my early teens I recall a night gig in the countryside of Lancing area somewhere (might have been East side of Worthing circa 1969), and there was a live band playing brilliant psychedelic sounds. No idea how they got amplified. Also I wonder if I saw anyone who'd recorded anything....maybe some cult collector-revered band of renown.

Also a year or so later, there was a show put on inside a barn on Mill Hill, that I went to with a load of school mates.
One of the other lads' older brother was playing, eventually I bought his Strat copy and WEM bass amp off him (wish I still had the valve amp stack).

The Festival a few years ago on the Dyke was nice, but too many restrictions and poor financial issues put the lid on that one happening again.
