Like many here it,s an issue in as much as so many of us try our best to prevent the problem. Garden with Iron Feeders for bird,no loose throwing food out 'for the birds' and yet a fair few of us live in rural or semi/woodland areas yet if you live in a 'built-up' area i guess it can be a problem ? Bait boxes and Air Rifle for us.

Up the allotment, we have an elderly Italian, who catches the feckers, along with squirrels in a small metal cage, drowns them in a bucket of water, then leaves on shed roof for the awaiting Red Kites.
Madre nature at it's best.

That's just cruel. See how he would feel waiting for the same fate.

Rats can be a real problem, especially when they invade your home without warning.

I suggest you address the problem by evicting some other rodents from their more favourably situated habitat that they've resided in for decades, thus creating space for the small but problematic & aggressive new group of rats to move into, where they can squeak loudly all day if they want to.

Who cares about the original residents? They can go and find themselves another home. Offer them a small discount on cheese if it helps sweeten the deal.

That sounds a faintly familiar scenario.

It,s not a problem, large open garden with dry stone walls, earth banking like many in the UK so a good place for Rats if other residents are not so careful about food waste for birds/animals etc
