“ Rangers have announced they will defy Uefa’s ban on playing the national anthem ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League clash against Napoli.

European football’s governing body refused permission for the Scottish club, Chelsea and Manchester City to play God Save The King in their first matches since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

But with three hours before kick-off at Ibrox, Rangers announced they would honour the passing of the Queen with a minute’s silence followed by a display and a rendition of the anthem.”

Well done to the Jocks. Personally, I’m not a great royalist, but recognising the Queen and the transition is great.

Added bonus - it will probably piss the SNP right off.

Everyone’s a winner. :)

Marvellous. If Celtic didn’t exist I doubt they’d be so bothered i.e, if a tree falls in a forest and there’s no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?

UEFA have got it wrong but I note that anthems etc will probably all be done and dusted by the time the TV cameras go on.

The SNP want to keep the Sovereign if they get independence. After all, he is a direct descendant of James VI of Scotland and Robert the Bruce.

They’d also stated in the past about becoming a republic, so it depends what you choose to believe.

However, I’m sure the fact that the Queen died in Balmoral and the large crowds/outpouring of grief/togetherness with be pissing wee Krankie off.

I doubt it, back in June Nicola Sturgeon was quoted as saying ‘she had benefited from the Queen's knowledge and wisdom during their private conversations.

She said she wanted the Queen and her successors to remain as head of state if Scotland becomes independent.’

And other people within the SNP have said different. It’s not just what Krankie wants.
Anyway, we’re digressing from the fact the Rangers have given UEFA the middle finger :)

If they were that bothered about it why aren't they just forfeiting the match?

I was merely questioning your comment “with be pissing wee Krankie off.”, not getting into a discussion of Scotland’s future makeup. :)

As you can ascertain from that quote, it’s unlikely to annoy her at all.

One example of comments about SNP and monarchy.

This thread should get the bigots from both sides going :clap::clap:

As long as lots of sensible posters don't come along and point out the idiocy of the OP

Huge respect to the Queen and all she did.

But all this, I'm tired of it all now. And now it's not about mourning, it's about point scoring.Make your point, or get out your mobile phone as the hearse goes by. Who got the most 'likes' ?

Just checked why I have the OP on ignore. Public bar bore, confused about simple things, and loud and noisy about it. That's more than sufficient.

Rangers fans are worse than gammony fat little-Englanders. By which I mean they look the same as those actual English little-Englanders, but they're worse because they're just colonised little-Englanders. Plus they think they represent "the people" which they clearly don't as most Scots want to leave the UK now

Anyway, this is a chance for them to belt out their gammony credentials. Of course they were going to do this. It's classic little-Englander mentality as we've seen in Brexit - they're above Europe and all of Europe's rules you see.

I hope they get banned from European competition for two years.
