Weir at 39 playing in a UEFA Cup Final is a little cheeky to say the least! Is that some kind of record?

I think at the moment they definitely would - you might be right about over a season but they've proven they can challenge the big 4 on their day which is more than the majority of Prem clubs who roll over and die each week manage. I sincerely believe both Old Firm teams are btter sides than Everton who have qualified in 5th this year.

I know the debate here is teams rather than clubs, but you have to remember that Celtic are one of the richest and highest-supported clubs in the world, so their potential in the premiership would be interesting...

I sincerely believe both Old Firm teams are NOT better sides than Everton.

Good point about Old Firm potential in the prem though, given that they are big clubs and playing down here they would still have massive support and, I suppose, increased revenue. Suppose that goes back to your original point about needing prem experience ......i.e. currently not stretched playing in a sunday pub division ;)

yeah true, just goes to show that if Rangers & Celtic REALLY want to do well in Europe they need a few seasons in the Prem to snort themselves out!

you ignorant idiot. how is being 2nd in the uefa cup not 'doing well in europe'???!!!!!!
Also, regardless of them being scottish why should a team from another country NEED to play in the premiership in order to do well in europe? Its a non-argument

and anyway if you'd offered rangers fans to be the uefa cup runnersup at the start of the season then i guarantee they'd have taken it.

And if the issue really means that much to you then i tell you most rangers fans would love to join the english league but they're just not allowed to

Arguably Celtic beating Manchester United, Liverpool, Blackburn, AC Milan, Benfica, Juventus, Barcelona and others in recent years weakens your argument there. In fact, that 3 of them ARE premiership teams definitely does.

And as much as I hate to say it, I believe Rangers have beaten some decent European sides recently as well.

By that arguement - Exteter (ithink it was) drew with Man Utd, therefore they should be able to hold their own in the Premiershit, maybe they did well as it was their "cup final" but afetr losing 15 odd at the start of the season, they may not do so well (just like Derby this year or Sunderland a couple of seasons ago)
Its about the whole season not an odd game here and there,

The biggest question about bringing the Scottish teams into the Engish leagues is where do they start, straight to the Prem or non - league and earn their way up ( as spl is non league imo)
