I've just bought a Freelander 2. 18 months old, £25000 from a dealer. Expensive but a lovely drive. Does 44 MPG on a mixed town and A road commute. Should I have bought a Kia Sportage instead, maybe but very happy with my vehicle. And I work hard to be able to afford it.

Leon Knight had one I think. He had a booster seat installed though.

What's even worse is anyone who drives a Range Rover with a personalised number plate..................

..although if part of the personalisation is to show support for the Albion, the knobbishness diminishes considerably. Apparently.

I was riding in the Surrey Hills yesterday to and from Box Hill.

Of the few cars I saw, with the exception of a Nissan Bluebird , they were all some version of a premium 4x4's, and all super clean.
It would seem the nearest the poor things have ever got to 'off-road' was waiting for the 4x4 coming the other way in an overtaking area.

I live in the middle of nowhere down a rutted lane on farmland. I drive a 7 year old discovery and I'm not ashamed at all. It's a lovely drive, comfortable and has gone for years. I'm hoping I would not be lumped into the Range Rover bracket.

Because they tend to be pricks

Isn't England funny?

We make a magnificent product, universally regarded as one of the finest of its kind in the world, sober in styling, magnificent in engineering and hugely successful in every continent and all some people can do is bicker and jeer and talk of council houses and chavs and women who do.

Still, if the Indians start making it only in Asia at least the moaners will be able to sleep easier at night.

I do chuckle when I see a brand new RR, which start at £75k, standing outside an ex council house whilst costing the owner about £500 per month on a PCP contract. That is money just being thrown away with no return, society's priorities seem a bit odd to me.

Or worse still, laugh out loud, when you see one towing a caravan into/out of Wild Park. But yes your right, society's priorities have gone mad.

Lovely stuff. Without the final sentence I'm sure most people would have assumed you earned your considerably large salary by sitting around doing nothing.

I think you'll find that a Toyota is the vehicle of choice in countries where the vehicle actually NEEDS to go off road, Range Rovers are basically just status symbols imo

So I can't go and visit my old friends, you want me to ditch them and get richer ones?
