Reds Miss Out On Savage Loan | Wrexham | News | Dragon News | Dragon News
A MOVE to bring in out of favour Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage as a loan signing has been called off by his employers.
The former Wales international was hoping for the chance to play at the Racecourse for the Dragons and a deal looked probable, but late in the day County have had a change of heart.
Although he has started four games this season for Derby, the last was in a 1-0 home defeat to Southampton five weeks ago, and he has not even been on the bench since.
The 33-year-old was reported to be keen on a temporary switch to his home town team, as it would have given him the opportunity to play some first team football again.
Wrexham chairman Geoff Moss was disappointed at the news.
"It looked likely we would have been able to bring in Robbie on loan, especially with a couple of players out injured at the moment," he said.
"The player was keen on the opportunity and it seemed to be within our finances to allow us to bring him in, but unfortunately there seems to have been a problem, which has meant the deal will now not go head.
"It's a shame for Robbie, who was all for the idea, and we certainly could have done with someone of his quality in our squad.
"We do though thank everyone for their efforts in trying to complete the deal."
