I don't know about this.. I believe it to be a myth in fact. Why don't call centres all shut down during a storm if there is such a risk in the electronics being destroyed?

I dont risk it, where I live we got the bloody fire station tower and that ALWAYS ges struck by lightning, everything nearby gets fizzled and i've lost 2 HD's and countless modems in the past. Even with a safety plug socket thing I dont risk it!

Our modem blew up during the last storms we had up here, took us about a week to get a new one in the post.
