"Over the years" suggests some sort of long-running campaign. I'm saying this doesn't seem to be true. I'm not saying there has never been any negative stories about him. I listed a couple in my post.A poster said "I think he’s been subject to awful treatment by the British media over the years".
And you said he hadn't.
I'll leave you to some more research...
He has had brilliant patches, especially at Liverpool and earlier in his time at City. But I agree, he went off the boil a long time ago. He's still capable of excellent 'moments' but is way too inconsistent.I always thought that Raheem Sterling was over rated
I was laughing at myself as original thread starter. He is only 29 which seems wasteful unless he can get with a club who want him.He has had brilliant patches, especially at Liverpool and earlier in his time at City. But I agree, he went off the boil a long time ago. He's still capable of excellent 'moments' but is way too inconsistent.

I well remember the nonsensical hoohah about him shopping in Primark. It was discussed on the Guardian Football Weekly podcast at the time. But that was years ago. This is setting a pretty low bar for evidence of media harrassment, and one that probably hundreds of footballers have been subject to "over the years".
Well I am always grateful when he doesn’t get on the pitch against us or gets subbedSo overated
All this.It was never about "harrassment". It was about the consistently negative spin on anything he did, with alleged racial undertones, spanning several years.
The reason the narrative has changed in the last four years or so because Sterling - and others - called out the bias, and the links with the racist abuse he was receiving at matches.
Far from being a typical case, it's likely to be featured in future textbooks, media guidelines and countless theses.
