I want to listen to Radio Sussex on 95.3fm in Haywards Heath mainly to hear the match commentaries when I cant go away so I bought a mini hi fi sysytem from Argos which works well in our lounge but not in the spare bedroom where I would sit with my pc and ;listen to the game.

It has a built in aerial so I cannot use the communial aerial that is for TV and FM radio, that has been fitted on the roof of our flats where I live or can I. Can I buy a converter that will enable me to plug in co axial cable from the aerial. Or what other remedies are available short of taking the thing back to Argos and getting my money back as it doesnt serve the purpose it was bought for.

Take it back, although it does actually get a signal and it's probably a cheap and cheerful radio so it's not that powerful. I suggest specificially going for a DAB or one that accepts external aerial input.

That is my gut feeling but just wondered if I could buy a converter that would enable me to use an external aerial or even if the thin aerial wire could be put into the middle thin wire of a coaaxial cable socket and joined to the external aerial.

104.5 is best in HH but you cannot get the commentary of the matches on that I dont think. Which is the sole purpose for buying the radio, as I cannot get to all of the away matches.

Have you tried tuning it to 1485 on AM/MW ? Thats what I have my car radio tuned to, and it seems to give me a reliable signal from most places in Sussex.

Well I get the Albion commentry on 1485 when I'm driving around, and the phone-in afterwards.
I prefer it to 95.3 as its a less intermittant reception when I'm driving.

That is the answer then as it receives 104.5 perfectly but for some reason I thought that the commentary was only available on 95.3. Problem solved.

Many thanks to all who have posted I had a blonde moment and thought that the commentary was only available on the Brighton site of 95.3. I shall now be able to listen to the games I cant get to as we rise to the top. I am 67 years old will I see us in the Premiership, I hope so, unlike many who regretably havent lived to see us at Falmer.
