Look if you want to do it that's fine, and yes I will join in to a point, but I think there does need to be some perspective.

I am genuinely glad Muamba is on the mend and it is shocking seeing such a seemingly healthy athlete collapse on such a public arena.

But beyond wishing him a speedy recovery, you must acknowledge that for many it is nothing more than a distant incident.

Most have experienced far closer personal tragedies and grief that is bound to be more poignant.

Again I cannot accept your near religious connotation about his recovery, thankfully he had immediate access to the best medical and scientific lead treatment.

So if you want to applause, fall silent or leave tributes then do, but it doesn't make you any more compassionate than us that don't.

I've found an issue with this whole story is that newspapers have led with him making 'racist muamba comments'

Am i right in thinking he didnt say anything racist ABOUT muamba, but was racist to any black member of public who then responded to his original comments?

I'm not defending him. He HAS to go to jail for those secondary comments. I just find it odd how the papers made it sound like he made racist comments about Muamba*

He's not criticising people for being too compassionate , he's aiming his criticism at false, over the top compassion , which is what has happened with Muamba in my opinion.

There is no mention of the word false in his post. He equates it with the stress of it happening to someone nearer and dearer. Obviously it doesn't to the individual. I think people who feel the need to make these sort of statements are just trying to be 'controversial'. Dont. Just shut it and let people be positive for a change and be happy for them.

I'd disagree

The reason it's different to 20 years ago is that there was no twitter, sky sports news and constant televised football.

Just because you are more exposed to it, it doesnt mean it's more forced.

Considering it was the biggest story in football you WOULD expect a 24/7 sports channel and a live social feed to be covering it in the immediate aftermatch.

You have to actively seek out those forms of media etc to be exposed to it.

Obviously nowhere near as serious as the offences i mentioned , as I posted on this thread previously, why is this treated so seriously , when other acts, such as burning poppies and causing a breach of the peace by abusing homecoming soldiers are treated with what a majority of people would surely regard as astonishing leniency ? I also wonder why the subject of this thread attracts such vitriol from the left leaning posters on here , when they had virtually nothing to say about the poppy burners .

I assume the reason this guy was treated so harshly was because the target was a millionaire footballer. Had he been a blue square premier player he wouldn't have got jail time.
