Good for you

At least I'm not RATTING out on the civilised beliefs I've been brought up on. You give your warm words to the white racist mobs if you want, you shall be judged by the company you keep :salute: :salute: :salute:

Judged by the company I keep, like the GL Branch of the NZ Labour Party!

I'm not ratting on anything, I've just taken the blinkers off and now give consideration to every perspective before jumping in feet first like you.

And you know it mate. Anyway, please carry on, you are really are cementing your role as North Stand Chat Village Idiot.

The events in Australia remind me a lot of the Notting Hill riots of long ago, grotesque provocation by the host white community stirred up by known Nazi/far right elements, and then a huge backlash by the immigrant community under attack

Dear Mr. Popular,

Please check your facts before unleashing such utter nonsense on the rest of us. The riots started because a gang of Lebanese stabbed a white Life Saver on Cronulla beach. The local surf gangs responded to that.

When you know what happened then come back. You can start by reading the thread before spouting a load of ill-informed pre-defined opinion.

Thanks,

Simply Tim

Meanwhile, Islamic Council of Victoria offices in west Melbourne have been vandalised for the second time in a month.

A brick was thrown through the front window of the building.

"We understand that it's not something that's accepted by the broader society and we do get a lot of emails and calls and letters of support at times like this as well," the council's Waleed Ali told ABC radio.

Islamic Council of Victoria chairman Malcom (Malcom) Thomas said he believed yesterday's attack was linked to race violence in Sydney.

"What seems to be the pattern is when an event happens overseas there is a spike in this sort of thing. And yes I believe this is in relation to the events in Sydney," he told AAP.

"Really a retaliatory action to what happened in Sydney on the weekend I think."

It's a weird situation here. the media have gone in to over drive. Basically it's thick yob locals against chip on their shoulder Middle Eastern lads, a reciepe for disaster really. Both sides are as bad as each other, and there is no reasoning with them.

I know it goes beyond the beach, but it all seems a bizarre place for a flash point to me.

Yep, Simply, the white racist gangs who provoked the Notting Hill riots of 1958 also claimed a pretext of an attack by the local Afro-Caribbean community on white women. So exactly the same then. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.

Can I ask you a question now? The local surf gangs who responded to the alleged original attack - do you condemn them or "understand" them?

If you think being a member of the Labour Party innoculates you from being carried along by a hysterical tide of anti-immigrant propaganda as you clearly have been, then you have as much understanding of history as Simply here. :)

Im glad those who blame the lebanese want mob justice.

Even if it was the lebanese that started this, surely better to let the police handle it?

There's no "claiming" that a gang of Lebanese stabbed a white life saver - that's what happened Mr. Popular. You state that the whites are at fault though you have no understanding of what happened, and have no understanding of Australian culture. Every sensible person around understands that BOTH groups are at fault. Both sets of ethnic groups are attacking innocent people and undetaking mob justice. But that doesn't sit with Plastic Irishes anti-white views.

And obviously I condemn them. I also condemn the Lebanese gangs, which you seem unable to do. I have a lot of ethic friends - I'm engaged to someone who isn't white for a start. But don't let that stop you labelling me a racist because I question your beliefs.

These kind of nationwide attacks on mosques and racial incidents is very similar to what happened here in the wake of the 7/7 bombings. However, both the decision-making and opinion-forming elites in this country and the media did play a positive role in calming and isolating this tide of ugly prejudice that was felt across Britain at the time.

I just hope Australian politicians and the Australian media will perform a similar constructive role. With the emphasis on "hope".

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I'll put that down to you being awake well past your bedtime, "hysterical tide of anti-immigrant propaganda" please! If anyones getting hysterical its you Billy No-Mates.:shootself

I remember the week before when I heard on the news that several lifesavers had been stabbed I was  not knowing or caring at that time who did it, I was still

Surf lifesavers are as iconic to Australian culture as the guards out the front of Buckingham Palace are to the English. They are volunteers who look after what this country is famous for, the beaches.

To attack a volunteer whose only purpose on the beach is to protect and save people is an affront to any person.

You can't blame the average Australian who has the Surf lifesaver image embedded in them from an early age wanting to show that these kind of attacks are not on, no matter who did them.

It appears that the extreme fringe on both sides has taken it beyond what was originally a show of support for the much valued Surf lifesavers.

The idiots that did that this stupid act should be punished.
