Day 6 for me. So far, has been much less stressful than I remembered from previous efforts.
If I can stay off them this time, I too can look forward to draining the health service budget with replacement hips, painkillers, anti-depressants, state pensions, weekly visits to the local GP surgery, chiropody, arthritis, dementia, incontinence and finally an expensive, yet poor quality state-funded Care Home so I can be abused by staff who are academically 'bright', but totally unsuited to actually care for their patients.
So much to look forward to.
But, most of all....I hope I stay off the ciggies and that eventually, a confirmed non-smoker will teach me how to look down on smokers with that 'oh, so superior arrogance' and the ability to look a smoker in the eye with far more contempt and disdain than they would an Al Qaeda terrorist.
Good luck to all future converts.
Day 43 now....and hanging in there quite comfortably.
Good luck to all.
November 18th was my quitting day. Although I was obviously addicted to nicotine, my main problem was smoking joints from 7 in the morning til last thing at night for at least 15 years.
I would smoke ciggies when joints weren't possible (in the pub, with family, none available, on holidays) and surprisingly found the nicotine cravings the hardest part of stopping.
Someone has already mentioned the book 'Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking'. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone wanting to quit.

My update.
Sinus issues virtually gone now, along with the panic attacks and off the anti depressants.
If I can do it guys after 53 years you can, keep it up, it is all worth while in the end.
