Quick techie question...

Is it possible to purchase an adapter that will enable a scart lead to be plugged into an aerial lead connection on a TV ? I'm having a Sky Digibox plumbed in upstairs, and my old portable TV doesn't have any scart connections. I'm a bit of a tight bastard though, and don't really want to buy a new portable TV if I can get away with it.

Is there such an adapter in existance, or is it simply NOT POSSIBLE due to some kind of inconvenient technical reason ?

Just run it with a co-ax aerial lead. The sky box will have a normal output socket.

That is the easiest option, but I am sure eBuyer sell a co-ax to scart converter.

All Digiboxe's bar the Pace Javelin Minibox have an inbuilt UHF modulator - they output signal onto a ye-olde aerial lead

Otherwise, a third party SCART UHF modulator ("Convertor") costs around 30 quid

The one in my room upstairs I've had since I was about 13, so its over 20 years old now (and still going strong). The aerial is blu-takked to the base, the front flap is missing, and it has no remote control, so I use a broom handle to prod the buttons from my bed.

Course I could swap it with one of the kiddies new fangled TV's with the built-in DVD players, but that seems a tad unfair.

Absolutely. My trusty broom handle does the trick, and has done for years. The only thing is, I have no means of altering the volume from bed as its a twisty knob thing, so I have to ensure that the volume is at an appropriate level before I climb into bed with my broom handle.

Truth be known, I'm going to be quite sad when the broom handle is put into retirement. Sure the remote control has all the flashy functions and will be easier to use. But I'll miss those dodgy, vague pokes in the gloom as I enjoyed some late-night channel-hopping. I found it both challenging and satisfying.
