Having grown up relatively close to Crawley I have always kept and eye on wished the club well, I know there a few on here that have a soft spot for them but generally they seem to be disliked by albion fans, which sort of baffles me given their size and league placing.

My question is, do people dislike them because of their refusal to allow us to ground share post goldstone or is it more about the town? i get the impression many sussex residents see Crawley as a bit of a joke town seperate from the rest of Sussex?

I'm quite interested to gauge peoples opinion of the club and their march up the conference table too.

Thanks.

i have gone to crawley quite a few times but always to support the other side, york, aldershot, barnet, lewes, brighton, having grown up 12 miles from crawley they always seeed like they did not belong in sussex and it felt like what it was london overflow, little rev plays his football in the crawley area so it does not seem so strange but yet to support crawley could happen soon:eek:

i guess the fact it is a new town thats population exploded after the war with displaced londoners means it doesnt feel like a sussex town, i can sort of see why albion fans dont warm to Crawley as a town or a football club.

Given that I was born in Brighton I support all Sussex clubs at whatever level. I am a season ticket holder however if the Albion are away often watch Eastbourne or Crawley. I wish Crawley every success & would be delighted if they got into the league.

It could only be in the Albions favor if their was another Sussex club in the league & allowing fringe BHA players to be loaned out locally.

Crawley you have at least one staunch BHA supporter here & I wish you every success in getting into the league

For the hundredth time, it wasn't Crawley Town that objected to a groundshare. They were very keen.

It was Crawley Borough Council (who own the Broadfield Stadium) who blocked it.

I should add that I don't like it as a town, it's very soulless, but that has little to do with being an
Albion fan: it's just a dump.

Sorry, my mistake. I always thought it was the club that blocked the move. I was only 13 or 14 at the time and my memory is terrible.

Re: Crawley council blocking the groundshare all those years ago:

Only one councillor blocked it...the one whose Broadfield ward backed onto the ground. All the other councillors were keen. For some reason or other, he had the whip hand on this one particular issue, so the council was forced to block the idea on behalf of them all. They weren't happy.
