Question: Brighton Testimonials

As we all know Kerry Mayo is to be granted a testimonial match at some point before the start of next season.

This has got me thinking. How many other Albion players have been offered Testimonials.

I remember Dean Wilkins getting one against QPR at the start of the 95-96 season for ten years service to the Albion in two separate spells.

As did Jimmy Case against Liverpool in the 94-95 season.

Steve Foster was granted a benefit match against Sheff Wednesday at the start of 96-97 season but I'm pretty sure this wasn't a testimonial.

Anyone have a complete list of testimonial matches and the players who received them?

Gerry Ryan had a testimonial. About 11,000 came along, unless I am horribly mistaken.

The History Man is the fella to ask.

I remember Graham Pearce's against Palace at the Goldstone. 2-2 I think.

Peter Grummitt had one in (I think) 1977 or 78 - Chris Cattlin had one against Coventry in the same season.

I went to Cattlin's - decent crowd, don't remember going to Peter's.

Steve Gatting had one, I'm sure in the 90-91 season against Arsenal

Tis true.. 2-2 i think was the score

Other testimonials I recall since 1990 have been (in no particular order!):

Graham Mosely - lost 3-0 to Spurs.. Gazza on fire just before Italia '90

Gary Chivers - drew 1-1 with Spurs

Malcolm Stuart & Jock Riddell - 2-2 v Charlton

Steve Foster - 7-1 loss against Sheff Weds

Jimmy Case 2-1 loss against Liverpool

Dean Wilkins 1-0 loss (I think) against QPR... disgustingly only 3000 turned out at the Goldstone compared to 11,000 who turned out for Case. Even in those days I felt Dean had been a better servant than Case ever was... (awaits flaming... ) ... Deano spent his last couple of seasons being slaughtered by the North Stand - largely unjustly

Tim & Roger's book has a list of all testimonials up to the mid-90's

We beat Charlton 2-0 - Ramsay scored and one other (possibly Zamora).
