I'd would say Queen as it happens, Freddie was the original showman, and all the others since are just pretenders in my opinion.

have to disagree zeff.... i need mention only one word bowie

to quote a famous scouser, "before Elvis, there was nothing". Nuff said.

Love Bowie and Queen in equal measure. However, Freddie had an unrivalled universal appeal, you could be in your teens or retiring and you could enjoy Queen. Bowie was unique, but that also made him less appealing to a huge audience. Talking of Live Aid, Heroes is one of my favourite all time songs, but it felt a little lost in that stadium that day, whereas Queen blew the roof off.

I watched the BBC2 on Queen the other week, and at the original Live Aid he stole the show, and given some of the others acts on that day, that was no mean feat.
Absolute master, one of the greatest rock singers ever, plus no mean classic singer as well,Bohemian Rhaphsody,Barcelona...and a performer beyond par!

Didn't manage to get to see The Tunnel of Love Express Tour show at Wembley Stadium in '88, which was a shame, as I think ToL is one of his best albums, and of course, BS was falling in lurve with PS

Agreed, saw that one also and at Villa Park

Frutos, you may not see him with the E Street Band anymore because "Big Man", Clarence Clemmons suffered a stroke on Monday, my gut feeling, especially after the death of Danny Federici a couple of years ago is that Bruce wont tour with the full band again.
However, his solo tours are still great as is his Seegar Session Band tours

Queen's music still to this day mean's so much to me. I remember my dad listening to Bohemian Rhapsody with his large headphone's on and asking me to listen to it, I hated it because it was my dad's music basically. " You'll come round one day" he said, and he was right, it wasn't long before I had the headphone's on and he was having to wait for me to finish listening to track after track.

payed for his excessive homosexual activities otherwise you wouldn't have to be watching that DVD

You're an ignorant piece of shit for saying that, or you are 12 years old & need an education...

Back to the thread, saw the Queen documentary & suprised how much i liked them/their music....
But for atmosphere of a live gig Paul Weller & kings of leon a coupled of years ago were awesome (too big now) & arctic monkeys are great too..

Thanks Greens :(
Bohemian Rhapsody was the first record I ever bought, with a Record Token given to me on my birthday. I went in the shop and asked for a record called, 'Scaramouche, Scaramouche...' (I half karaoke'd it...), to be met by a weird look from the shop assistant :lolol:

Queen were my band, back in the day when you had your favourite band. Saw them at the Dome, Hammersmith Odeon, Brighton Centre and I think the Rainbow. Loved them. Mind you, didn't like Springsteen till a mate couldn't go to a show. Gave me his girlfriend for the night and 2 tickets for The River tour at the Brighton Centre. Absolutely special. However been to many special gigs. Lindisfarne at the Dome, Elton circa Rocket Man on the cusp of Glam, Cohen at the Dome, CSNY,The Band, Joni Mitchell at Wembley 74, Rolling Stones at Wembley circa Exile, and many more. But the gigs I wish I'd seen were The Beatles at The Hippodrome or Hove Town Hall.

I saw Queen at Wembley on the '86 tour at Wembley. They have been one of my favourite bands and Freddie Mercury is without doubt the best front man I've ever seen...and I've seen a few over the years.

I was at the 4th. of July 85' Springsteen gig at Wembley Stadium, having got into him via BitUSA, and have a slight regret I wasn't dialed in when he played two nights at The Brighton Centre on The River tour in May 81'. I believe tickets were an 'exorbitant' £5, when mere mortal bands, like The Jam, charged about £2.40

I was at the second night. He played a completely different set to the first night. Wonder what happened to those bootleg cassettes?

And the award for worst frontman in the rock genre has to go to Ozzy Osbourne. Admittedly am not his biggest fan but I do like the Randy Rhodes and Jake E Lee period stuff. However he just seems lean against the mic or lumber from one side of the stage to the other. And yes Sharon he does use an auto cue to prompt the lyrics !

Did anyone see the BBC documentary on Queen, a few weeks ago.
Neither off us are/were that bothered about Queen, but just couldn't turn the TV off, it was captivating.
