We have hardly any surface ships left to escort her, and can't afford enough of the jets, so looks like a jobshare with the Yanks

We could share their aircraft carriers, of which there are many.

Whilst ex RN, and impressed by these two ships, I cant really think of the purpose. Think we have more important issues in the UK that need addressing without spending funds on strategic aircraft carriers.

Dave, you must wake up each day looking forward to putting the boot into the UK, you come across as very bitter, I bet you were popular down the mess deck.

6 Type 45 Destroyers
13 type 23 Frigates
2 Amphibious Assault Ships
8 type 26 Frigates on order
11 Attack Subs

I think you’ll find we have plenty of ships to form a battle group alongside a state of the art RFA fleet.

Not sure why saying putting money elsewhere rather than an aircraft carrier is anything more than just a political view point rather than putting the boot into the UK?

Not a new issue either. On the Hermes paying off trip (83) there was no escort of any kind.
Sadly the old girl is heading to the scrapyard as I type. The Happy H, wonderful ship and great ships company.

I read we are forecast to have 15 destroyers/frigates by 2027, with at any time 5 in training, and 5 in maintenance, leaving just 5 available for missions. Is that really a credible number to form 2 carrier fleets ?

We wouldn’t ever have two carrier fleets out unless we were at war, and by war I don’t mean skirmishes in the dessert.

A standard deployment CBG will most likely consist of 1 T45 destroyer (AAW), 1 T23/26 Frigate (ASW) Possibly an Attack Sub & and a Tide Class RFA

On a war footing we could easily double that group and be very effective.

1 carrier fleet. 1 carrier on active service, the other in dock/training.

If we went to war then the training fleet would be re-deployed

I was popular then, I'm popular now.
Why does the UK need two large strategic carriers exactly?

Because if you are landing troops in the Middle East you can’t provide air over from the U.K. simplies.

How many people in the mob did you meet who didnt love their country, I love my country, I dont like the crop of governments we have had over the last few years, who feel its ok to lie to the population for personal gain.
