brighton, actually
not sure what Mcpubs there will be at the stadium of nimbys, next season- where will most folks be gathering before / after games?

The Swan, outside Sussex Uni (now Albion friendly, I hear..)

somewhere in town, then on to the Gus Bus (aka transfer coach..)

or one of the boozers near to train stations, on the way..?

I'll probably mostly be at my local in Portslade for a couple of shandies beforehand, as the landlord there is running a minibus to the Amex and back after the game.
No doubt I'll take advantage of the bar facilities at the stadium as well though.

Where there's Harveys and Hophead with money going to the club there's me.

Near the ground there's only really the Uni, Swan, Hikers and Downs to choose from. Obviously the ground itself but I reckon it might be a bit more expensive.

Both pubs either side of London Road Station have cracking beer gardens for games when the weather is nice,The Open House and The Signalman (I think) , but a bit cramped inside for a large gathering , unless they take out all chairs and tables.

East Stand bar, West Stand bar, 1901'ers special bar complete with fluffers? Take your pick, I for one will be drinking pints of Harvey's in the east stand, no need for pubs, I just want to soak up the Amex as much as poss

First game, or first few games for sure, I'm going to be there nice and early at the stadium as well to take it all in.

Once I've settled into my routine though, I'll mostly be drinking locally before getting to the game methinks.

Wouldn't be surprised if london Road and Moulsecoomb stations had to close on match days as the trains will already be full leaving Brighton.

What's the Sussex Uni bar like then?

There used to be 4 or 5 but I think they're down to 2 now. East Slope is pretty good but I wouldn't be surprised if they demand student ID on matchdays as I know a lot of the Union were up in arms about the stadium (along with everything else that it's possible to be up in arms about).

Those with car parking spaces at the ground could us the Newmarket in the Brighton/Lewes Road.

Sussex and Brighton Uni's, in a joint venture, are opening a 'super bar' in the Gardner Arts Centre called 'La Perroquet Bleu'.

Sounds poncy but will have a full range of drinks and stooodent prices.

Ah, I thought these were just rumours. BTW it's Le Perroquet Blue. Will it have real ale though?

By the way, the Hikers is over a mile from the stadium; I can't imagine many wanting to walk that, judging by how many people I see getting a bus to Withdean from half a mile away.
