I'm off to see Psychic Sally tonight with my mother-in-law.

She is a total believer in psychics, the paranormal and mediums.

I am a total sceptic.

How do the rest of you feel about psychics, mediums and their abilities?

Television psychics are despicable frauds who prey on the weak hearts of idiots.

However there is a kind of pre-cognition of life in dreams (I believe) and in presentiments (sensations) too.

It is just that TV psychics are aware of none of these as they are not shamans. Instead they are exploitative hucksters.

I remember driving around Hove years ago and seeing a temporary sign pointing the way to a 'Psychics Fair'. I thought to myself: why do they need a sign? Surely they would just know the way...?

Horrible horrible people. Con artists, who focus on the bereaved.

My daughter is studying at A level and keeps asking me questions about it ... I was hopeless at it, not bad at Biology though

I'd say 'needy people', rather than idiots. They're meeting a need, aren't they, like religion.

I'm not defending them at all - I just think many people's need to believe shouldn't be put down to stupidity.

Has a psychic reading ever been cancelled? Ever?

Clearly any psychic is a fraud

oh what a shallow, narrow and linear one life one must have led to come to such a statement.

maybe in your next life you may peek beyond the veil a little, or witness someone else do as such.

newton, the founder of DNA, da vinci, and many more were all alchemists, do not rule out the invisible with such haste.

oh, the folly of man.

I will say i believe in the paranormal but it might not be true i think alot of it is how you want to view things if you want to believe then believe if it can help with a grieving process then all well and good.

My mum has been to one and she firmly believes she felt he said things he could never have known, myself im a bit sceptical i think they are clever and have ways of finding things.

I am on the fence on the whole thing, but my believe is if it helps someone cope with a passing then all well and good

Isaac Newton was not the founder of DNA, he knew nothing of molecular biology. Crick and Watson, who discovered DNA, we're both committed atheists.

Do you actually know what 'alchemy' means? It's nothing to do with psychic abilities.

Do you want to have another go? I mean no offence but you seem a bit lost without dodgy YouTube videos to refer to. Have you ever considered that your study time might be better spent learning about real things rather than pseudoscience claptrap?

there is a comma, re-read. it means the founder of DNA, AND newton, AND.....

i know of alchemy, and an alchemist 'knows' psychic abilities are real. work with a pendulum every day for a year, or even tarot, scrying, runes, etc, and only then can one really make a good stab at having an opinion on such matters. in this, i dont mean use any modern books or teachers, i would advice to goto the likes of those late 19th or early 20th century.

and yes, i do take offence to your last comment, it is peacemeal, cheap, and an ignorant.

a human only sees 5% of the electromagnetic spectrum, are you saying because you dont see things they are not real?

NDE, ESP, remote viewing in the military, claryvoyance, and much more are all proved and declassified. oh dear....maybe you should just do "some" study huh?

You have to be careful to separate this issue of whether something has a positive or negative effect to whether it is true. Dawkins explains this clearly in the God delusion.

Just because a belief in psychics may help some people in some situations, does not make it true... and a belief in such things could lead to further beliefs in imaginary objects, happenings.
