am i missing something or is absolutely nothing happening, anywhere? 100 protests all called off? may be they didnt fancy the stir, or will they appear at some time like a poorly practiced flashmob to Kasier Chiefs.
well, It is a pretty overcast evening and if they get caught in a passing shower they may catch a chill.

Spot on. What there hasn't been is enough politicians articulating that we need immigration and, without it, x, y or z will follow. I actually posted what x, y and z constitute in a previous post; @chickens has been providing very detailed overviews of the key issues surrounding immigration on this thread -- not sure I've heard a politician making such an argument in a decade.

Sorry about that 😁

Difficult. Showing a strong front against the right wing will have value, no doubt, but A&E (not to mention Mrs Not Andy Naylor) wouldn't thank me for getting hit in the head with a brick.

Correct, but not in a knee jerk reactionary unorganised manner. Which is what’s happening this week in lots of places. Police are over stretched, everyday criminals are literally getting away with things as a result. People need to think “if I go to counter protest, I’m effectively taking police away that are otherwise investigating a prior burglary, a rape, gba etc.” You also stand a chance of being friendly fired. No, Police have asked for calm, are exhausted and you really aren’t helping anyone just adding more potential fuel to the fire. Doubling the potential problem.

Leave for another day. Now is not the time. IMO, naturally.

This whole thing is about politics. Or is it just about thuggery and theft?
It’s about angry people and opportunists using a platform - any platform - to loot and have a scrap.

Correct. By now it should be clear it’s not “just” far right or even “out of town” types. But people from local communities, opportunists and easily influenced or disgruntled about immigration and things in general, enough to join in under same rhetoric and feelings at least. Some of the press could and should change their narratives to reflect this. It’s dynamic and will continue to be so.
Its clear that there are many out on the streets just looking for the opportunity to loot. They are waiting for their chance. Too many got away with it in August 2011, with a lack of police intervention and now some regard it as fair game.

Which day do you suggest? One which might not be troublesome for certain far right protests?

This is all shocking and appalling. Until yesterday I’d never heard of this App called Telegram. Or Terrorgram as the security services call it.

At what point do we as a country just close down these social media platforms for the good of law abiding citizens?
Prohibition doesn't have a great track record though does it.
Addicts always find a way of getting their fix.

I am in favour of opposing racism but at the moment anyone thinking of counter protesting, please give it a swerve and stay home this time. Let the emergency services get on with making arrests and keeping people safe.

It’s great to take a stand but not on this one.

I’m angry about climate change but I don’t go and smash up poundland!

If you think this isn’t a platform being used by far right politicians then I think you are wide of the mark.

I also don’t agree with some of the counter protesters masking/balaclaving up.

What are they trying to achieve?
