As far as I can make out, EB's move to Norwick has not been confirmed by either club?

Why are we all accepting this as a fore gone conclusion? Buckley has signed for a club recored and we assume this is as EB's replacement. it may be in place of Lua Lua, a signing that does not now seem likely.

Having said that selling EB for the reported 1.5 m would cover both our new signing's this season, leaving the whole of our seasons transfer budget intact.

Saying that, this fee covers two trasfers, the transfer of arguably the two most important players from last season, it will take time for these new player to fit in to our system and learn how Gus wants the game to be played.

Or do we think these new boy's are better than Glen "I think i may have made a big mistake, oh hold on! is that a wodge of £50's in my pocket" Murray and Elliott "no hard feelings" bennett?

I think the club have taken a risk, look and Leeds, Millwall and Norwich. they all managed to keep their top players over last summer, and they all had very good seasons. Maybe thats what make s the difference, holding on to what you already have and impoving on our current squad and not losing our key players?

I would love you to be right. I live in false hope the benno deal falls through. They officially unveiled Morrison yesterday, I guess they waited to do benno on a different day.

They won't be buying benno just for prem, I guess they see him as someone who could also get them out of championship if they go down again.

I just hope benno realised with all the norwich arrivals his first team opportunities are limited and thinks it through.

Tiny fish in a big pond, or biggest fish in our smaller pond.

Can't see any team buying someone for the lower division once they go down again!
He'll be alright in the prem I reckon - he's a good young player and will enjoy the step up.

The players up in that division aren't supermen, they are mostly quality talents that have risen to the top....just like him.
Hopefully, we have a team growing into that status too, and will rise accordingly.

We sold Crofts to Norwich last season, we did okay though.

If he wasn't on his way there would have been a denial by now.

Bringing in 1.5 million to the club

If he is playing in the prem he will not be able to score against us (unless we meet in the cup)

He has progressed superbly and reflects very well on the club

We may be in a position to sign a Norwich player who has become surplus to requirements with all the arrivals streaming into Norwich

It will help us attract players who have the potential to play in the premiership one day

He deserves his opportunity

We are in a much stronger position now to weather the storm of losing a key player

Cons

Losing a very talented player who has made the front line look superb in L1

Fantastic player to have around, superb ambassador for the club with a terrific attitude

His replacement will have a lot to live up to

Sends a message out to other clubs that we will sell our prize assets(but only at the right price)

an absolute fan favourite.

Given a choice most fans would keep him but that is football and the worst situation would be if no one was interested in our players, we are in a unique position with Bloom and Poyet to take us to new heights over the next 3 or 4 seasons and of course there will be disappointments along the way but I have a feeling the good days will far out number the bad ones.

perhaps the extra finger skin graft has rejected itself and the moves off until that situation can be rectified

Elliott will take time to settle at Prem level.
Talented as he is...he is physically lightweight. He gets knocked off the ball too easily at Div.1 level and goes ' missing ' sometimes when the going gets tough. The powerhouse players at that level will bully him and give him no time to settle.
Lambert needs to bring him along gently...give him confidence with set-plays..and let him find his feet.
He has been very important to us but he is not irreplaceable.

Doesn't have much Champ experience let alone Prem. Could they not loan him back to us till Xmas? Would we want that as he'd know he's gone and maybe not try quite as hard (though quality bloke only natural).

from what i can gather of their transfer dealings so far, they are not buying players for thier premiership experience. they are snapping up all the best young talents from championship level that if they progress could become a very decent premier league team

and if they dont manage it this season, then when they are relegated they will have a side that, if they can then hold onto those players, should be ready made to go straight back up again

Pros - Gus sets great store by pre-season and is hoping to have most of the squad in place by then. Even if we started the season with EB, Norwich aren't going to go away.
