FWIW I honestly don't think anyone who wants Propper out knows the slightest thing about football.

He's one of the most complete midfielders to wear a Brighton shirt ever. Playing a reserved role rather than getting forward but as has been mentioned before he can certainly play as a CAM as he has done for Holland. We're lucky he's great at both.
He played for Holland when I was in Amsterdam about 6 months ago and the Dutch greats were eulogising about his performance after that game but perhaps the self-styled NSC cognoscenti know more about football that Rijkaard, Koeman et al...

For the record I do agree he's been off the pace since lockdown. But form is temporary and class is permanent. He'll be back.
The question to ask is this. If we booted him out who do we replace him with ? A more complete midfielder will cost north of £35 mill. I actually can't think of anyone less than a superstar I'd replace him with.

Agreed, he’s been off the pace since lockdown, earlier in the season, when we were also doing quite well, he was one of our better players imo

Across the season, I would say the best partnership I have seen was Propper and Bissouma.
Particularly at Palace where they absolutely dominated midfield.
Since the restart, Bissouma has been one of our best players.

It certainly feels like Biss and one other, for next season, right now.
If Alzate or even White are going to come in and take the other place, then having Propper as back up, just shows how far we have come.

Give Propper time and space and alongside the right player he can be a class act.

However has proven time and time again that if he is put under pressure he makes mistakes.

Hopefully can improve that part of his game and be the player he has the potential to be.

HI Davy !?

I think for what he brings us you could replace with an U23.

In fact, forget U23's. Who would do a better job in the Prem ? I'm genuinely interested as to how your mind works.
Let's say we sold him. Who replaces him and does a better job ?

I think our midfield is where need need to strengthen, but also think that this season has been wildly disrupted.

Alzate looked very good but has had the injury to deal with,
Bissouma has improved a lot but lacks any end product,
Propper was playing very well pre-lockdown and has returned poorly,
Gross started well but has faded,
Mooy was superb until January but has been generally woeful since the return,
Stephens has continued to do his job well but is getting further from the required standard.

You are looking at our midfield as Alzate, Biss, Propper, Gross, Mooy, Stephens. I look at it and think Alzate, Biss, Lallana, Molumby, MacArgie (AM) and Trossard (AM) and I'm looking forward to next season!

Wow. One question. If Propper is such an all time great player, why the hell is he with us? Wouldn’t City, Pool, Madrid come in for him?

The adulation for this guy here is simply incredible. Makes critical mistakes costing goals, can’t head the ball, too cultured to tackle. No assists, no goals.

And more importantly, isn’t quick enough for Potters style.

A great CM? Propper isn’t even the best CM in our squad.

The people demanding we get rid of Propper, Stephens, Gross and Mooy seem to think we have a MASSIVE pot of cash for new players. Getting rid of them and simply replacing them with like for like players will probably use up the entire transfer budget. Plus those players are perfectly good players for where we are. Why spunk all our budget on treading water? How about we add a few quality players to the squad instead and, maybe, one or two of those regulars from this season will come off the bench more.

Stick to the subject, this is about Propper.

And we don’t need to sign. That’s the point... we HAVE the players.

Alzate
Molumby
Bissouma
Ben White
Mooy
Gross

Why are you so infatuated with Propper? No joke I genuinely don’t get why a few of you are so enamoured with the guy. What’s he so great at? Let’s start there.

Willing to bet money GP will sell him anyway, he’s being phased out already.

OK. Thats your opinion. So as I said earlier who's better that you'd replace him with ?

He lacks pace for starters.

Bless him, we countered near the end yesterday and running on treacle he made himself available, but the pass never came anyway.

He’s not a great player, he wouldn’t get anywhere the first eleven of Wolves, Leicester or the traditional top 6.

Propper’s a decent top flight player, on his day very good, on plenty of others flawed. That’s why he plays for a club consistently flirting with relegation. At age 28, he’s not PL Champions League class.

He is pretty average. I agree he is complete, he got no real weaknesses except for whatever trauma he got in the last third of the pitch. But he is far from irreplacable and if theres a bid for £20m I would take it and invest it in someone else, someone less prone to give the ball away cheaply in dangerous positions. There is a lot of good central midfielders around these days.

Sadly he has dropped right off since the lockdown, would say maybe the rest will do him good but the enforced one made him worse

Ha ! Sorry. I didn't realise you were a joker. LOL. I've only just realised you're a spoof account. Hilarious stuff.

Genuinely just pissed myself a little bit laughing at Molumby taking the Dutch midfield by storm.

This thread has become ridiculous. Davy Propper is unquestionably the best central midfielder we've ever had play for the club. He's a Holland international and he's started the vast majority of our Premier League games. He's top quality and anyone who disagrees because of his recent form, is plainly wrong but everyone is entitled to their opinions. There doesn't need to be a consensus opinion.

Think you're missing the point.

Propper is definitely one of my favourite players from the last 3 seasons.
But the squad is improving year on year and on current form, Propper is no longer first pick.
Bissouma has gone past him this season and there is a reasonable chance that Alzate will follow a similar path next season.

I hope he stays, because replacing Kayal for Propper shows just how much progress the squad is making.
And I absolutely worshipped Kayal before Propper arrived.

Even better if Propper reacts to the pressure from the youngsters, and hits his top form more consistently.

Jimmy Case, multiple League and European Cup winner, was a quality CM for us, he had everything. Before starring for Stains for many more seasons. Far better than Propper, he controlled football matches.

Vicente wasn’t bad also.

Jimmy Case is the only real competition for the title, although I was a big fan of Nobby Horton as well. But this is a very different era and, personally, I would say Propper is better than the pair from a technical perspective.

Vicente isn't a central midfielder, but he's the best individual we've had play for us and we could spend another 10 years in the Premier League and not have a better footballer play for us than him. Amazing performances, despite his injury situation and his other problems. What a privilege seeing him play for us in the second tier.
