Looks like Sussex have got in on the act of selling naming rights to the ground.

CHIEF executive Dave Brooks says cricket at all levels in Sussex will benefit from the county’s latest sponsorship deal which will see their headquarters re-named as the PROBIZ County Ground.

The two-year agreement, thrashed out in two weeks between the club and PROBIZ founder Feisal Nahaboo, is worth a “significant six-figure sum” according to Brooks.

Sussex have been keen to become only the fifth county club with a ground naming agreement after starting the second phase of their ambitious redevelopment of their headquarters last September.

PROBIZ are no strangers to sports sponsorship. They have agreements with Super League Castleford and Halifax rugby league as well as Premier League football West Bromwich Albion.

The deal was brokered by PROBIZ’s cricket consultant Tim Munton, the former England and Warwickshire fast bowler.

Brooks said: “They not only have the naming rights to the County Ground and the media centre but they will also be using Sussex for hospitality, meetings and seminars. It is going to become their southern base."

I don't mind that they have a sponsor for the ground's name. It's not a great name, but then it will always be 'The County Ground' to me.

Plus I get a sense that Sussex really do need the money from such sponsorship and not just a case of filling the top management's pockets.

I'll sure Probiz will be peddling their 'tax planning' schemes to the players too! Feisal Nahaboo is a bit of a flash wheeler dealer by all accounts, though this news has just massively increased the likelihood of my accountant being able to arrange some decent freebies in the future!

Anyone got any new pics of the ground since its been done up?

While there has been much focus on Falmer, the County Cricket Club are spending £8m revamping the County Ground building two new stands and a rebuild of the main pavilion.

How good that our two big sports clubs are spending serious money on stadiums when the construction industry is generally in such dire straits.

It will always be Hove to me. I have seen the photos on Sussex website, are they doing anything with the actual seating area above the sightscreen at the sea end (I can see scaffolding around it but can't make out anything in the pictures). Commentators sit there now but fans used to be able to, but they stopped that. That was always my favourite vantage point you got a fantastic view.

Drove past the main Eaton Road entrance, the ground looks very different

One of the pillars has been demolished making the entrance much wider.

The view from the entrance, with the back of the new south west stand going up, looks more like a stadium.
