I noticed many of you have said you would be voting Green in the Euro elections or Local elections, now I would not usually say voting for a one issue reason is a good idea but the Euro elections are not the most important so why are you voting for a party who are expressly against Falmer, even if you are in a area that has local elections it would be worth making the point would it not?

By voting for someone else or nobody at all and making sure the Greens know why would probably be a good thing or maybe Falmer is not that important in the grand scheme of things?

CTS your point about the BNP is valid but surely not down in the South so much IMHO, up North the BNP will win votes and a lot of them but I reckon apart form a few areas in London they will not have much success in the South.

Agreed but any increase in their vote is a bad thing even if it is miniscule.

I'll probably just end up voting Labour.

I had the local Tory woman come knocking on my door last week "Yes or No to Falmer?" I asked her and she stuttered then eventually leaned the way of No, "not getting my vote then" i said, she tried to reason but I just looked at her blankly! Still undecided on my vote and really cant be arsed to research everything and make sure I use my vote for the best interests for me, my family and of course Falmer!

Anyone got e-mail addys for the Shoreham lot? as I could e-mail them and ask them straight up! that'd save reading every damn leaflet that comes through the door!

I think it's important to have a Green presence in the European Parliament. This is a strategic body that makes policy at a broader level. This has nothing to do with Falmer.

I don't vote Green at local elections - I don't like the NIMBYism that goes with local politics

Ditto .

I don't even know who will be on the ballot form! Nothing through the door - I'm looking around internet now, but any one know any easy way to find out who is who? (In Brighton/Hove area)

Well said. I vote Green in Euro, but wouldn't nationally or locally. Green MEPs have little or no influence over Falmer.

Bearing this in mind I shall no be voting Green.

Dandyman

In London village.
I've taken the following from their 2003 manifesto. They seem to be saying that they do not back Falmer but will accept Prezza's decision if he gives it the green light (no pun).

"Albion Falmer Site
The Greens have made no secret of the fact that, whilst we want the Albion to have a proper permanent home in or near the city, after looking at the club's application in detail we don't think Falmer is a suitable site. We are not alone in thinking that and believe the suggested alternatives need to be properly considered.

We believe that on planning grounds the application is not strong or detailed enough for approval. We think it is now most appropriate that the application be finally decided by an impartial Planning Inquiry, and will respect whatever decision it reaches."

Living in London I'm still inclined to vote for them for Europe on the basis of critical engagement with the EU and a broadly progressive manifesto.

The Green Party locally has at least kept out of the Public Inquiry. Whether this was through support for the Albion or political opportunism (ie they didn't want to lose votes), I don't know.

They do at least offer an anti-Blair, internationalist alternative in the European elections.

Hmm Decsions decisions. I hate the Greens locally but like Dandyman and Fatbadger I'm inclined to vote Green in Europe for their 'Progressive but slightly Eurosceptic' stance. However they ARE Nimbys when it comes to Falmer: the "we want Brighton to have a new stadium - but not at Falmer' is the absolute definition of Nimbyism.

So until we get Falmer not Green then. *Sigh* Labour again I suppose. Although I am tempted to do a protest vote for the English Democrats. After all Nationalism is the new Internationalism these days.

Falmer
Anyone want to buy my vote?

I do not have the time or the energy to read up on each party.
