[Politics] Priti Patel bullies staff and gets away scot free

This is the perfect irony.

He's supporting bullying in the workplace but is too chicken shit scared to reply to a perfectly reasonable post. Instead, running away. Like a child, who is being bullied. :dunce:

Bullying is horrible and wrong. Being an apologist for it is worse. Yes, you Boris Johnson. Every time you think he can't sink any lower as a human being, he manages it.

It doesn’t surprise me, when he is on record as trying to arrange to have another journalist beaten up, when he was writing.

I believe that due to Patels bullying, a civil servant at a previous dept that had the misfortune to have Patel as a Minister attempted suicide, and was awarded £25,000 from the public purse in compensation.
So, not so much of a jump, after all.

I already posted a link to the attempted suicide case in 2015, where the DWP paid the civil servant £25K out of court.
Portlock hasn’t got a clue what he’s talking about. There are veterans like yourself, ex civil servants, ex Met coppers all saying the same thing.

With regard to bullying during training, I can’t speak for the Army , but , the RN has certainly got its act together this century. When I joined at HMS Ganges in 75 bullying by staff was indeed accepted, and even encouraged. I was struck on more than one occasion, on the drill square and during other instruction. My point is though, that even then, the better instructors didn’t physically abuse recruits and, dare I say it, some didn’t even verbally abuse them, and they appeared to have got the same if not better results.

Raleigh in 81 was all about throwing kit, bedding etc out of mess deck windows, which was fun as I joined in January. There were the clips around the ear and the occasional pay stick across the shoulders, though to be fair not particularly hard. Having the piss ripped out of you was the norm but was generally very funny. It was not PC! Being half Spanish I was naturally a spic, in the same way as a bloke from Cardiff was a taff or from Glasgow a jock or Frisp (****ing rude ignorant Scottish person) or for that matter someone from London being a cockney. The more pissing taking the better the mess deck.
Can’t speak for all parts of the Andrew but the FAA didn’t tolerate bullying.
I have however been taken around the back of the hanger by a senior rate to discuss my poor behaviour. Better that than being trooped and enjoying the delights of 9’s (punishment).

Well I've read some absurd stuff on here, and have chipped in with writing a fair share of me own, but that accusation is a bit head-mental non? Other than his Tourette-ish defence of despicable and/or obscure 80's pop acts, [MENTION=1200]Harry Wilson's tackle[/MENTION] seems to me to be a thoroughly tolerable sort. And even on rare occasions likeable

I think that you only really take the piss out of people you like.
I think bullying is a bit different, usually aimed at people who can’t or won’t retaliate.

My foster Brother was Asian, he did 10 years as a greenie. He was always known as Choco and he was fine with that.

I refer the honourable member to post #146 [emoji106]

Oh and FACT CHECK- Someone else has a different opinion to LlcoolJ so they must be talking “utter shite” [emoji23]

Edit I should add imho Patel should’ve been looking for a new job yesterday.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion mate!

And on the latter point, totally agree.

Bullying? Shouting and swearing? Sounds like every company I’ve ever worked in. The difference being, nobody’s making political capital out of everyday business.

We need to investigate the armed forces next. I’ve heard sergeants have raised their voices at recruits, up to 6 inches from their faces too. Public enquiry required. And their doc Martin’s should have rainbow laces. And soldiers should be allowed to grow beards and not be forced to wear uniforms. And And And...

This sort of behaviour is totally unacceptable. I work for a blue chip multinational and there have been cases where people have have demonstrated this sort of behaviour, and have very quickly been escorted off the premises, and good riddance too. Shouting and swearing is the action of someone who's out of their depth.

And loving the whataboutery with the Army. There's bullying (aka Deepcut) and there's drilling a squad of young people into a fighting force.

The thing about workplace bullying is that it doesn't matter whether the perpetrator meant it, whether it was accidental or whether they were unaware of the effect of their behaviour. As I understand the law, if the person on the receiving end felt bullied and if they can demonstrate that this was a reasonable response to the alleged "bullying" behaviour - then they were being bullied. In this case they were therefore being bullied, whatever Patel says in her defence about lack of intent. That's completely irrelevant. No-one should be surprised about Johnson's response. He needs bullies and hitmen to do the things he lacks the bottle to do.

Good shout, I’ll reach out to Guinness Boy, [emoji23][emoji23]

I do believe that when you report a post it goes to all moderators, specifically so people can't make ludicrous claims of favouritism.

And I see that the sacking of Patel is yet another thing we are in complete agreement on. We share so much in common

I’ll bear that in mind thank you for taking the trouble of pointing that out.

As for sharing so much in common, I can’t imagine have anything in common with a boomer ffs [emoji2357]

Yes it is. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen and guess what, because we’re adults, most of us have handled it. Just as we did at school.

As an aside, I was surprised at his testy retort. Why defend a criticism when it isn't directed at you? Unless....you think it should be. I wasn't intentionally fishing but it seems I accidentally caugh a tiddler. If I throw him back perhaps he'll swim off nicely

It’s a bit like getting upset when that Mouldy goon labels everyone left of Margret Thatcher a lefty liberal and taking offence!
