Burnley draw tonight - Burnley 85, us 84

We beat Charlton tomorrow - Us 87, Burnley 85

We beat Derby on May 2nd - Us 90, Burnley 85

Burnley fail to beat QPR - Us 90, Burnley 85 or 86

We are promoted before Boro match

Unlikely I know, but would still take a draw tonight.

We'd be promoted 2 hours after our game against Derby finished. If Burnley v QPR kicked of knowing they needed to win or we were up, surely the Albion would show their game on the Concourse TVs and let us all celebrate in the stadium? Or we'll all just jump on trains to Brighton/Lewes and fight our way into the nearest pubs...

It does us a massive favour. Means boro can be promoted before playing us which is absolutely MASSIVE.
I disagree. Middlesbrough being champions before playing us would be massive, as they'd be on the piss all week, but if they're merely promoted, they will still fight for the title, and they'll do it with no pressure. It could be very bad for us.

This auto promotion game is so much fun. I now have an intense interest in every Burnley and Boro game as well as the Albion so I am hanging on the result of three games most weeks rather than just the one. What's not to like ( apart from last minute winners and equalisers for the other two)

Or you could ignore those games and look forward to seeing us win at Wembley

Fun in the same way that Russian roulette is fun.

Fun in the same way that Russian roulette is fun.

Not sure that any result is going to kill me so not that intense.

So you aren't loving all this extra excitement?

Preston North End 4 Burnley 1.

I've always loved Preston. Absolutely love the place. And the people. Top people. Really good at football.

If Burnley lose 4-0 tonight, who would be 2nd in the league? Both them and us would have an identical league standing, including goals for and against. Even both head to heads finished in draws. A highly unlikely score, just curious!!!

Burnley's record away from home is characterised by very quick starts and scoring in the first 15 minutes on six occasions (if my memory serves me right).

I don't fancy Preston's 4-1-3-2 system to be equipped to deal with the Burnley long balls. Burnley are not that direct, just forced to play that way as they lost the midfield at the Amex. I don't think they are a particularly good team, but they do lose not possession (less than any other club). Accurate long balls are another feature of their style, only exceeded by us. But also lots of inaccurate long balls, much more than us.

SPG stats (H v A)
Preston 13 OT 7
Burnley 11 OT 6

Looks like a close game.

PNE have forgotten how to win at home

Burnley are also set piece experts scoring 11 away from home. cf. Brighton 5

Preston seem naff at scoring at home both from open play and set pieces. They have not scored more than two at home all season. Only MK Dons have scored less at home.

All the indications are that Burnley will play cagey and pick PNE off on the break, not with a counter attack but a long through ball. If that fails they will resort to winning fouls (by hook or crook) like they did at the Amex.

I have placed a cheeky bet on Burnley tonight as I never fail to back the losing/drawing side. Was on for a nice little earner on Tuesday until Burnley equalised on Tuesday, I can't miss :)

Hopefully Preston will do their bit to knock the most arrogant fans in the league down a peg or two tonight.
