 This current silence from Prescott is a complete Joke..
Isn'tit time we start bombarding him with REAL letters telling him to get off his bottom and let us know..good or bad..
I personally think he won't do anything before council elections and it's obsene to think this has political motives!
am fed up with watching Ministers on Sky pontificating on how important it is to have a 60,000 seat stadium in the middle of north London for Arsenal whilst completely ignoring our plans which are now over a year old..
The reply I received from Prescott,s office referred me back to Brighton council,so clearly they didn't even bother to read it,what price they haven't bothered with any of the letters.
Ask super fan Caplin why he can't chase this!

I can understand your anger Keith, here we are waiting for a Central government office to make a decision on a Stadium that a majority of people in B&H want, the (Labour) Council want it, local busineses want it, the Universitys are in favour, and yet Prescott has taken this decision out of local hands and is taking on board objections from a few hundred tory voting villagers and a Lib Dem MP.

I thought we lived in a democracy ?

Having said that we must keep plugging away with letters Emails etc, no point in getting abusive.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
I still firmly believe it will be a yes.

However the longer it goes the more worried I become, i just hope hes not putting it off till the end of the season then say no to avoid trouble at games etc

Don't exaggerate the size of the Tory vote in Falmer.

With an adult population of about 220, and assuming that only 60 per cent of them vote and that two-thirds of the voters are Tories, I reckon it's not a "few hundred tory voting villagers", but less than 90.

And, given the fact that Falmer is represented on Lewes District Council and on East Sussex County Council by Liberal Democrats, the number could easily be much lower than this.

"A few dozen tory voting villagers" is the phrase you are looking for.

Ok LB I take your point,(a few dozen !) this makes it even more frustrating it was taken out of our hands when such a vast majority are in favour of it.

But its no good looking back its been done now.

I take your point LB, but surely the Falmer residents will throw away any previous allegance and vote for the party most against Falmer, and there would likely be more than 60% turnout, nothing pushes the locals to vote more than a bit of NIMBYism.

In any case, 200, 100, 50, still an irrelevance surely!

For the umpteenth time ...

THERE ARE NO COUNCIL ELECTIONS IN BRIGHTON & HOVE THIS YEAR

I take it there are District Council and County Council elections in East and West Sussex this year (don't they all run the election by thirds system?).

That means that, in fairness, Prescott is likely to have taken on board what was raised at the inquiry, that that Albion are Sussex's club, not just Brighton and Hove's, therefore that would add weight to the suggestion that he is waiting for the elections.

For the record, I don't think he is waiting for the elections, I just think we are somewhere in a very big pile of applications.

I also think this is the real reason for any delay. The timing probably depends more on when it reaches the top of the pile than anything else.

Can anyone provide some insight into why we were epecting a decision in early January? We are now 16th March and still no end in sight - just makes me wonder if they are waiting for the right moment to say NO.

god I hope not

The 'early January' tag was speculation, possibly based on previous inquiries. They know full well that for the people of Brighton & Hove, there is no good time to say NO. For that reason, I am with Albion Rob. They just haven't reached a decision yet, and there is a massive workload to get through, and our planning application is very complex.

I still think that SCR & their website had some inside info earlier in the year when they said "decision expeted in the Autumn" when everyone else was saying Early this year ???

SCR and Bollocks, you surprise me !

The average time for the ODPM to respond to public enquires is around four to six months.

Bascially you pays yer money and takes yer choice when dealing with ODPM responses.

Prescott's Office is a busy place.

The Planning Inspectorate deals with over 18,500 Planning Appeals and Public Inquiries a year. Most of these require a decision by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. That's over 350 decisions a week.

Though nearly all of these Prescott will not personally be aware of.
