Used to hate the "have to win every week" pressure of being near the top of the Championship - knowing year after year of £20 million loss was unsustainable.
Let's not go back to that.
Absolutely. Wins in the Championship were like an addict getting a fix: essential, necessary and with only a fleeting high - and a lot of the time there wouldn't even be that as we'd grind out unattractive, ugly, joyless wins against teams we 'expected' to beat. (Gotta get three points, gotta get three points, must get into the PL as we can't sustain these losses indefinitely). In the PL wins are rarer and much sweeter for it.
Basically the only way to enjoy the Championship would be to play in a sustainable way, i.e with a squad the didn't entail dipping into TB's pocket every year, and accept that that meant we'd always be an also-ran club with good and bad seasons. I can't see many of the "I prefer the Championship" people settling for that, given that most fans demand constant progress.
