We are doing pretty well considering the change of manager, huge influx of new players and many new behind the scenes staff. The major outlier is Notts Forest who surely won't sustain their position. I think we are well placed for European qualification.

Happy, given that we've got a new manager, and a lot of new players, so that we are a work-in-progress, and this is probably a transition season. Hence out current position is probably better than might have been expected in the summer.
But also disappointed, because we've already dropped several points, due to our inability to kill games off when we take the lead. Otherwise, we could have been even higher in the table.

7th with 16 points is pretty much standard based on recent seasons.
Last season, we started well and after 10 games were 7th with 17 points.
22/23 - our best ever season - and at this point we were 8th with 15 points. (And our 11th game that season was also Man City)
And in 21/22 we were 8th with 16 points!!

Not so sure. We could easily be top 3/4 with some missed opportunities to win games, especially at home. Forest drew with us. They won at Anfield. They deserve to be there.

Considering our first 10 have included Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle & Liverpool, only two of which were at home, I think we’ve done very well to be where we are.
It feels like we've left a fair few points on the table, meaning that errrr, they're not on the table.

True, but on the other hand we probably sneaked 3 points at St James' Park - we were very ropey in the first half. You could also point to a 2nd Man Utd goal chalked off for a crazy off-side, and getting slightly lucky at the Emirates with the Rice sending off. That's probably at least 6 points we could easily not have had.

This. The fact we’ve chalked off Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle & Chelsea aways is significant. We picked up 4 points but it should have been at least one point more. A point per game overall at those grounds is actually very good. We don’t have to go again and most of our rivals for 6-10 do.
All of this with our most dangerous forward injured and a midfielder who many thought would become a starter also crocked.
The only negative is the amount of goals we’re conceding against lower half teams.
I’d be very surprised if Forest stay where they are, there is normally one team that does this in the first 10-20 games get overly excited then fall away, it’s normally West Ham!!
I’m not sure you’re aware how this works so let me explain…

Exactly. All fans are very one-eyed when looking at results and always focus on 'the ones that got away'. Yes we should have beaten Wolves and Ipswich, but on the other side of the coin we got the rub of the green against Man U and Newcastle. So we could be 3rd - but we could also be 12th or even 15th.
These things tend to balance themselves out, and ten games is a good reference point. So yes, 'we are where we are' and it's probably a fair reflection.

They look pretty good as do Bournemouth(not just after yesterday). Both are fast and direct and a pretty good watch
Easyish start to the season and fully fit squad. Don't see them staying where they are. Maybe top 10 though.
Yes Bmuff are a very good side, and have recruited well, they may also have one of the best managers in the league. I thought they had overtaken us on the field last season and I was laughed at by many on here. After our spending spree in the summer I think we've edged past them again. But will be interesting to see who finishes above who.
