Can anyone spot any potential signings? Upson is an obvious one. I also notice Steve Harper has been released - good backup? Would live to see Pennant here but maybe wages would be a stumbling block.

Does anyone know if Ian Harte retired? If not, he's worth a go even if its for the free kicks!

Dj Campbell has a decent record at our level and plenty of experience, could be be a good option while CMS is out, or even when he's back?

Weren't we after Simeon Jackson from Norwich at one point? May be surplus to requirements if a fit CMS is added to Ulloa, Hoskins, Barnes ...

I missed him on the list, good shout. Like dj Campbell, he's almost only needed while CMS is out unless someone leaves in the summer...

Upson and thomas priorities. Thomas turned Leeds around by himself around Xmas.

Centre back would be useful, would have a look at Danny Wilson and, obviously, Upson.

Richard Peniket has struggled a bit with injuries, but is a 20 year old Ulloa-esque striker and would be available for hardly anything - few seasons ago he was very highly rated and could be worth a punt. Probably will end up a bit lower down the leagues though.

Bostock (ex Palace) and Adeyami could be useful as back up in midfield, probably no better than JFC though.

Danny Wilson can play CB and LB and well worth it in my opinion. Gonzalo Jara Reyes might want to come back.

Carlton Cole and Mladen Petric options up front.

Some big names there - Arshavin, Florent Malouda, Paulo Ferreira, Yossi Benayoun, Roque Santa Cruz

I can see why all of those have been released. Probably on LARGE salaries too but if it was affordable I would take Malouda or Benayoun. VERY unrealistic though.

Dean Whitehead has been a pretty good Premier League midfielder for Sunderland and Stoke but I assume a Premier League team will go for him. There's some decent players in the list but I also wonder if the next Liam Bridcutt is one of the players I haven't heard of on the list.

Danny Wilson appears to have signed for Hearts (where he played on loan last season) - so you can scratch that one off.

Jerome Thomas will be a solid signing for any Championship club with promotion aspirations. Was doubtful whether he was still up to it after drifting out of the picture at West Brom (mostly due to injury in fairness) but by all accounts he was pretty impressive in his short loan spell at Leeds last season, and ended up forcing his way back into the West Brom squad for the remainder.

Jernade Meade is a useful prospect. Definatly not arsenal standard but would certainly be a good addition if we want to lower our average age.
