What's vaguely terrifying is that Blackpool spent £25 million on wages.

Blackpool. FFS.

But didn't they cap their squad's wages at £10,000/player during the year they spent in the Premier?

but on 52m turnover, thats only half their money. with a 25 man squad thats a little under 20k p/w average wage cost (which means either the 10k cap was a lie or they had a big squad)

Included in Blackpool's wage bill is £11million they paid to one of the Oyston's as a management fee.

Rather be Blackpool, than Blackburn £58M income and £50M on wages. Then just look at Fulham's debt £190M where has that come from ? Sure a riverbank residence is nice but does The Cottage cover that level of debt ?

I don't quite see what the problem is when clubs spend approx half their income on wages. Should be nothing wrong with this provided that you have built into contracts relegation clauses that reduce wages if you go down.

Interesting to see that Blackburn Rovers only took £6 million in gate / matchday receipts out of a turnover of £58 million. TV and other broadcasting income was £42 million. They blew £50 million on wages, though.

How anyone can say that footballers are over paid is beyond me. They are entertainers and as such command premium payments. If anything they are underpaid when you look at the dedication and loyalty they display week in, week out.

Well said. You can see the sincerity in their eyes every time they kiss the badge.

Think Blackpool did well only 48% of total income spent on wages. Gives an indication of what we will need to be spending if and when we make it up there.

You mean the same dedication and loyalty an average worker shows but gets 500 pounds for?

Be honest, a garbage collector provides a more valuable service to the community than a footballer does.

I heard this was a repayment of monies put into the club by Owen Oyston. I think if we should make it to the Premier League, this will be the way that Tony Bloom will get part of his investment back.
