West Ham v Palace is an intriguing one. Couple of weeks ago you'd have bet your savings on Palace. The new manager factor means it doesn't seem so clear cut now.

Can Potter beat Palace for a change?

It's the first time this season, that I recall, where a win for us won't move us up a place, barring a fairly big swing in GD.
I would not be shocked for a big enough swing on GD. If we win and Bournemouth lose then minimum is 2 goals different and Newcastle are flying so could smash em. Then we lose. Obviously.

If we win then I would rather Bournemouth also win. Let’s catch the higher places!

Momentarily dropping this thread to the Championship: I've just flicked over briefly to Burnley v Sunderland (currently 0-0) and the Burnley fans are losing their minds at James Trafford repeatedly putting his foot on the ball and playing it out short from the back.

It's like Sean Dyche left a permanent stamp that runs all the way through their club and deep down into their souls. I swear to god they're going to start booing next time he gets the ball and fails to punt it aimlessly towards the Pennines.

Edit: he's saved two penalties, including one in the 97th minute, to keep it at 0-0, so suddenly they're all kissing his arse. Both saves owed a lot to the Veltman-esque levels of shithousery he employed before both kicks, dicking about for a good couple of minutes each time.

Catch the top 4? It's a big ask...

Possibly, but with a sensible hat on, I cannot see us reaching 5th, without a massive upturn in performances and a lot of help from those above.
Would be nice, though. :)
I can't see us overhauling Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Man CIty.

So, to finish 5th, we'd need to finish above all of Forest, Newcastle and Villa (I'm going to ignore Plucky).

Forest have a 10-point head start we'd need to turn around in 17 games.

TL;DR - I agree with you.

True, I mean the tackle for the first penalty was about a foot outside the box, so justice was arguably done. He's a weasel though- even when they interviewed him afterwards, he said that his bootlaces came undone just before the first penalty, and his "hammy" went before the second. Incredibly weak of the referee not to book him when he clearly undid his laces first time out.

Yes, which is why I'd prefer a Newcastle win tomorrow, given that we'll beat United on Sunday ( he says, with gay abandon). Gives us a better chance to climb the table and I don't think that 7th place - possibly 6th - is beyond the realms of possibility.

United will be buzzing after winning while playing badly against Saints. How weird that I feel quite confident of winning up there but this time I'm not confident at all. Hoping we can get something from the game though!
United have been riding a massive wave of luck recently, we will have to get a bit of it to beat them imo.
