They’re a moments team. Good spirit. They’ll get taken apart a few times though.

Draw would have been fair, Geordies were hardly great.

Barnes and Nkunku. They can both finish. Rutter and Mitoma x2 can't and their chances were easier. If we want to be up there with the big boys this season we've got to not belief the hype and score. Really disappointing results this weekend and our attacking players let us down yesterday.

Sussex but not by the sea
Newcastle were lucky to win yesterday because Wolves should have been at least 2-0 up. Newcastle didn't look 'all that' at all against a team which is clearly short on confidence and lacking squad depth. They needed a Worldie to win it and I remember Barnes scoring another one like that a couple of weeks ago to save them at home, can't remember who against now.
In Gordon they have a genuine talent, in Joelinton they have a genuine thug.

What's happened to Wolves? They looked real contenders a couple of seasons ago.
Owners don't really want to own a football club but Portugal is one Fosun's biggest markets and Jorge Mendes influence goes beyond football.

My impression is that the club is basically a vehicle to make Jorge Mendes richer and happier. They will do enough to stay up but I don't think they have any sort of football ambition beyond that.

No investment at all, fairly intentional asset stripping to reclaim some of the money blown in the last 5 years. They had some momentum, but decided to do the opposite of the Albion and not capitalise. They were a house of cards, rather than a well built structure like the Albion is. We have been focusing on the longer term and building the blocks gradually, they spent a big amount to get where they wanted to be quickly but couldn't sustain it and will be relegated within the next 3 seasons. I actually think they're in trouble this season given how small their squad is now.
They've also developed a lazy habit of sitting on a one goal lead and not going for the second to kill the game off.
Have they appointed Graham Potter by stealth?!

So are Newcastle good, or just lucky?
I think they're massively better with Trippier in the lineup and yesterday's result is a testament to that.
They can't keep him benched in the first half if they want to remain in top 4 contention.
