I really hope SCC don't win it. Can you imagine how insufferable that t**t Adkins would be?

Have used BBC Predictor to full advantage and see Scumhampton unceremoniously dumped out of the automatic promotion spots - hoorah !!

Albion sneak in to the last available play-off space by beating Derby (H), Burnley (A), Middlesborough (H), Reading (H), Birmingham (H) and Barnsley (A), achieving creditable draws with Forest (A), Watford (H), and losing at Blackpool (A), West Ham (A).

TEAM PTS
1 West Ham 91
2 Reading 87
3 Cardiff 84
4 Southampton 83
5 Birmingham 81
6 BRIGHTON 78

Southampton 88
-----------------------
Reading 84
Brighton 78
Cardiff 77
Birmingham 75

and

Coventry 40
Bristol City 37

I don't think we'll make it, probably miss out on the final day or something but my god what an effort! Won't be such a bad thing in my opinion anyway

As I've been telling anyone who'll listen for the last 6 months, anything above 12th is a bonus. On that basis this prediction is beyond my wildest dreams.

87 Southampton
86 West Ham United
------------------------------
86 Reading
78 Middlesbrough
76 Cardiff City
74 Birmingham City
------------------------------
74 Brighton & Hove Albion
73 Hull City
72 Blackpool

89 West Ham +29
89 Reading +28
----------------
87 Southampton
80 Brighton
75 Cardiff
74 Birmingham
-------------------
73 Hull
72 Blackpool
71 Middlesborough

Relegated
41 Bristol City
38 Coventry
34 Portsmouth

Might have been slightly optimistic with our results: think 78 should be enough to get in the play-offs, though my crack at Predictor actually suggests 75 would do it.

That is the result from SOTW Jury, thank you. Good Night.

Reading will stroll to the title. Saints and WHU are chokers.

They have 3 easy games coming up (Donnie, Posh, Barnsley) to make it 11 wins from 11. eek

Nah, never gonna happen. If it does, then the universe will spontaneously combust.

Seriously, though, the team that finishes third and just misses out on automatic almost always crashes and burns in the play-offs, especially if they were way ahead of the 4th placed team. The psychology is all wrong to succeed after such a massive disappointment - momentum and confidence are vital to get through the play-offs.

Since the Championship was rebranded for the 2004-2005 season the team finishing third has been successful in the play-offs four times (Watford, Derby, Hull and Swansea) out of seven seasons. Apart from that, good point, well made. Or nonsense.

Dont want to be too negative, but our remaining fixtures are quite tough, who knows we may just sneak it in 6th place but I think 7th - 9th more likely

Everybody seems v. confident we'll beat Reading at home. On current form that looks the toughest of our remaining fixtures bar none. Even away at West Ham, in front of their nervous, tetchy and over-expectant support, I'd fancy us to take a point. But anybody getting anything out of Reading at the moment can count themselves to have done a bloody good job.

Still don't much care for them, to be honest, but I quite like their manager - he seems a decent spud who isn't into shouting the odds, blaming defeats on refs etc. I'd still be amused if they took an auto promotion spot off Southampton, that's for sure.

I personally think we'll just miss out, but not through any great analysis - I'm simply inclined to pessimism.
