If I were to pre order a cd from a website from say, play.com, then would I recieve it on the day of release or would they ship it out on the day of release?

You should get it on day of release, but some like amazon don't if you take the free post option

most places post it on day of release
i bought band of brothers boxed dvd from cd-now.
paid for it about 3 weeks ago and took 2 weeks to arrive.
however, the casing was cracked.
the only problem with buying on-line from my experience is little gripes like that.
if i'd bought it in the town, there's every chance i'd have seen the split case or if i hadn't, i'd take it back when i got the time.
with buying on-line, i'd have to shell out more cash to send it back then wait another 2 weeks for the same thing to arrive.
