Just watched the ****ing royals turning up for some church service ... looked like the bloody mafia, fast cars, blacked out windows, thugs with shooters -

This is an HB&B thread. The Queen has the sniffles.
I think you may have over reacted.
Merry Christmas
Bloody good effort from Liz. About time someone started standing up for good old fashioned Christian values without the need to constantly arse lick the other faiths.
Do you mean values common to any decent human like respect, tolerance, honesty etc. or values and practices like misogyny, slavery and homophobia as can be found in the NT? I really hope you don't mean some of those good ol' OT values like incest, polygamy, rape, war etc...
Before I get shot down for taking a snipe at religious hypocrisy I know that there are many people associated with churches doing all sorts of good works and doing their bit to fill in the ever increasing gaps in social care being created by government policy and that many Christians are not quite as fundamental as a minority are, but it does frustrate me to hear this phrase "Christian values" being used as if a certain set of morals and ethics based on a Judaeo-Christian tradition is some kind of badge of honour that elevates the owner above anyone else of any other persuasion.
Being a decent person does not require a faith in Jesus. Only a few people who do not have a faith in Jesus are fundamentally bad people. Many essentially good people do some bad things or make mistakes that have bad consequences from time to time. There are plenty of examples of individuals professing a Christian faith who have and continue to do some pretty horrendous things.
Most of the decent stuff attributed to Jesus is plain old common sense and humanity found throughout our wide world as far as I am concerned.
Well said. The only thing I would want to add to that is that in general those Christian Values are shared by the other faiths.
I'm a total Republican, dead against the idea of having a hereditary head of state, however, I do feel the Queen's address yesterday was rational and on point. I would also point to Brendan Cox's alternative address as an articulate and calm but evocative assessment of where we are as a society and where we should be headed in 2017.
Both addresses made reference to the sort of values discussed in this thread, values that even I as a Christian recognise is part of other faiths and amongst atheists and agnostics, but nonetheless are values that thoroughly enrich society.
Who the f%#k is Brendan Cox?
Who the f%#k is Brendan Cox?
The widower of the murdered MP Jo Cox.
The widower of the murdered MP, Jo Cox.
Oh him.
Did he address the nation?
Over reacted is an understatement. Buzzer needs to get his head 4 feet out of the Queens arse and mind his snidey language on Xmas day.
It's extremely embarrassing. The Queen gets to crack out a completely shit speech which never gets remembered or repeated and for some reason, people like Buzzer think Albert Camus has risen from the dead.
For Christs sake, Kerry Katona could challenge the Queen to a speech of similar quality!
Did you not fully read post #30?
