Gus Poyet says he will continue his summer squad rebuilding, and intends to add three or four more new faces before the season starts, with a central defender and striker the priorities.
Poyet, who completed a deal for Ashley Barnes earlier today, said, "We still need three or four more players, and that may depend on whether players move on. There are plenty of rumours of teams wanting players, but I cannot control that. If nobody else leaves, three sounds right.
"The market has been slow, with many teams going for the same players. We'll get there, the sooner the better, and there are things we're already working on.
"It's a manager's dream to get a good squad finalised by the beginning of pre-season. Also there are players we may sign on season-long deals, but we won't know this until end of the month.
"The main thing, so far it's been good. We can't complain, but we need to finalise the last few deals. The sooner we do this, the sooner we can start doing the right things in terms of organisation."
Poyet also confirmed he hasn't decided on who his captain will be, and it could be a future new face. "I have got a few ideas but it is not an easy decision. It is very important decision, we will wait until we have the full squad."
Meanwhile Poyet expects to sign his new four-year deal in the next few days. "There hasn't been any problems, and its nothing to do with length or money, but there is something in there that we've had to sort out.
"It's in the hands of the lawyers; there is no problem, but being a long-term contract it is important for everyone that everything is clear. As it is a long-term deal its good to get it right."
