Why exactly would a Premiership team want the manager of the 10th best team in the division below?

If I was a Premiership chairman, Gus would be EXACTLY the sort of manager I would want, regardless of just finishing 10th. I would look at how he has reshaped the club from top to bottom and got players playing the right way with an emphasis on possession football. Given the opportunity to work with better players, these skills are very transferable.

Pork pie land.
I just cannot see anybody wanting him at the moment. Over recent months, he and his team have been dire. He surely needs to improve his reputation before getting offered a job by a larger club?

As for what he is after, he clearly wants to be a top manager. Unfortunately, he also looks to be the sort of guy who thinks that success is all about money available to pay big transfer fees and wages (based upon his constant references to money). If anyone is daft enough to offer him a job with lots of money to spend, he would be off like a scalded cat!

You are beyond being remotely entertaining with this shite.

Why would these clubs want Gus ?

He is a decent manager but apart from Wolves I can't see the other 2 being remotely interested.

He has his flaws and without a blockbuster CV I can't see a prem club coming knocking

He re-shaped a club that was far easier to re-shape than an established Premier League club.

These things take time - not something many chairmen offer an abundance of in the Premier League.

Bar a few exceptions I bet if you looked at all 4 leagues the top spenders will be all near the top of their respective leagues and the lower spenders will be near the bottom.
Success is hugely related to money spent.

Brighton easy to reshape?? If it was so easy, why have we spent so many years in league 1.

I don't disagree. However, what money he has been given he has largely wasted on players he uses little or are useless, and he appears to have lost sight of his original "team" rather than "individuals" ethic he spoke about last year - which served us well. Now every time he speaks it seams that the excuse is lack of money in his Budget!

AND, even if he was actually at good enough to manage them, Chelsea would never go for anyone without major trophies on their CV. Something he will never get at Brighton.

I think from what we have seen of Gus gives us a fair indication of his capabilities. I doubt he will ever manage at the highest level. West Brom would suit him perfectly. Watch this space.

That is an easy one to answer - Withdean and money. The guy has been handed money he predecessors could only dream of.

if it was just about money then look at how much Leicester spent and they only just finished above us. Secondly he won league 1 before huge money was spent. So it is not a simple one to answer.

Remember what Gus said when he first came here, that he'd had opportunities elsewhere before this came along, but he hadn't taken then because they didn't "feel right", and then subsequently how it would take something "special" for him to leave?

I honestly believe he sees us as a long term project, and while it would be naive to think that we're as big/bigger than any of the aforementioned three, I can't see any sense in which any of them are "special" enough jobs to take him away from it.

The days of us being a tinpot club whose managers sod off at the first vague sniff of something higher up the pyramid are gone. While I wouldn't be surprised if any or all of thee above clubs became interested, I still expect Gus to be here next season.

I agree with Frutos
