I think you will find it's not a mortgage! It 's an interest free loan to the club. The stadium will open up fully paid to the contractors.

If the club are not able to repay Bloom in 2023 then he will convert the loan outstanding into shares. Extremely generous and he has said the stadium is a legacy from him to his kids and supporters kids. :)

Sorry, I meant to say it operates like a mortgage, which is a large loan e.g. it's credit with interest to pay.

What part of interest free do you not understand:wozza:

Need I remind everyone that neither Poyet or Bloom are fans of the January Transfer Market. If this is true in the slightest of ways then we'll have to wait until July I'm afraid ladies and gentlemen.

I am no mathmetician, but for something to go from £40 million to £93 million in 10 years is an inflation rate of over 130%

assuming the RPI has risen by approx 3% per annum, can you please explain your reasoning

I wasn't thinking straight.

The initial cost of Falmer was £60 million, not £40 million.

They're probably fans of not geting relegated too.
I know Bloom said he would prefer not to do business in January (whilst far from ruling it out), not read Poyet saying he doesn't like it. And he's been making noises about signing players. I would be very shocked if there aren't at least 2-3 signings, and some out the door.

They would have to be fools to stick with this until the end of the season out of hard-nosed superstitions or habit. Brian Clough made cup winners out of cart-horses, but not without tweaking the squad, discovering talents and finding a 'supersub' (the first to be so called?).
I think we have seen that we don't need to replace the whole squad here, but with 2 decent defenders and a couple of other lads to raise the grade and competition for places, plus at least a good back-up keeper (or perhaps to make our loanee a permanent) we could kick on and cement a midtable place.

Let's face it, we are now not going to look at promotion this season, so anywhere other than relegated will do. Hopefully there'll be entertainment involved in this, and the discovery and making of a Championship side.

One thing we can be 100% sure of is changing faces in the defence. Gustavo does not come with his own defensive coach, just so they can make empenadas together.

Naive would be the word I would use for anyone who thinks that because TB says he doesn't like the Jan window means he will not give GP money to improve the squad.....

Lets face it this is GP time and he knows what needs to be done to improve..He does NOT want us to struggle but at present that is exactly what is happening. If we are serious about the championship by Falmer then we need to improve ( get some quality in, who are good now not just ones for the future)

I would say we will get 3/4 big signings and 3/4 will go as the fat is trimmed from our squad..

If you are correct then i'd feel a little concerned. 5 million pounds is an obscene amount of money to spend in the third tier and regardless of Blooms backing increasing our debt by this amount could heap huge financial pressure on the club should Blooms money runs out or his cicumstances change in the future.

I'm a strong believer in spending slowly and more importantly wisely over time, not just throwing money in for over inflated transfer targets. I'd hate it if we became a lower league Man city despised by fellow teams, receiving little praise for achievements due to people believing we just brought success.

As I said, I don't believe it's £5million. Or even £2million that he'll necessarily have any funds in Jan (more likely next summer). But the general rumour that Poyet's going to have comparibly large funds made available to him at some stage does seem to be gaining momentum.

We may as well buy some players in January. If we just buy loads of players next summer, we will be back to square one. Starting the season with a team that needs time to gel....giving them more and more time to gel, it not gelling, and end up at the bottom end of the table.
