Albion boss Gus Poyet has revealed plans to freshen up his table-topping squad with up to seven new signings for the first season at The Amex.
Poyet is determined to maintain the Seagulls’ progress by continuing to raise standards.
He told The Argus: “Next year we need six or seven players. I think you need that because you need to make the squad better, to make training better, so everybody is getting better.
“That doesn’t mean the new ones are going to play week in and week out. It could be the same team or three new players or two or six.
“It will change more if we are in the Championship than if we are in the same division.”
Eleven first team squad regulars are out of contract at the end of the season. They include four of the likely starting line-up for today’s trip to MK Dons - Adam El-Abd, Liam Bridcutt, Gary Dicker and Glenn Murray.
Poyet said: “We have got 11 players finishing their contracts and we are two months and two weeks from the end of the season. It means some are playing for contracts.
“The main thing for me is that everyone knows where they stand and we will see from now until the end of the season.”
Albion will be trying to show they are the pass masters of League One against Karl Robinson’s sixth-placed Dons. Poyet said: “If we look at the last few games we have played, they are a team that pass the ball the most.
“He is trying to bring an identity to the club as well in terms of how they are going to pass the ball and keep it and try to frustrate the opposition.
“It’s probably going to be a totally different game to the ones we have been involved in so far, so I am looking forward to it. It’s a great stadium, a great place to go and enjoy playing football.”
