Powerline home network adapters?

With a couple of iPhones, an iPad, and kids laptop all connected wirelessly, I was thinking of getting some powerline adapters which use your hardwiring to extend your network. I was going to connect one to my router at first floor, and one at ground floor to the Tivo and a macMini I use as a hub to the TV.http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004INVKP4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Anyone set any of these adapters up? Are they dependent on your RDS breaker circuits i.e. I have power sockets downstairs on one switch, and the first floor on another?

Any help appreciated.

Yes I've used a couple at home and they work really well. My Sky box & TV are in my lounge but the PC & Router are in the spare room and although I've tried connecting wirelessly the router isn't up to it.

Mine were a bit pricier than yours, (Devolo 200Mbs ), I think they were about £50 from PC World about a year ago. I use them to download Anytime+ Sky programmes and they work really well. I can usually start downloading a film or show and start watching about 2 minutes after the download starts. Mine have a slight advantage perhaps over yours in that they have a passthrough for the power socket so you don't lose a plug, i.e. you can plug these into a socket and then other devices can then be powered through the Powerline adapter.

I believe they say that you should try and keep the two adapters on the same circuit but I have heard of many people who say it didn't cause a problem. I live in a bungalow so its just one circuit for power.

Interestingly mine at both ends are daisy chained off of multiple extensions, which again is not supposed to be good practice, but it doesn't seem to affect things at all.

I suppose I must have downloaded about 100 hours of programmes so far and I've never had a failure yet so I would recommend you give them a try.

Mine work fine over different rings in the mains, but dont like to share a plug, so multiple extensions are out.

I had different results with these network plugs and was not really impressed so decided to sell them on. In the end I moved my wireless router and put it on top of the book case in the lounge. Wireless is better than ever and covered across most of rooms in the house.

Ours are the D-Link DHP 307AV model and work a treat. Fast downloading and streaming/video works a treat.

Currently great value on Amazon at £37.32 for a pair, and free delivery. Click the link if you're planning on buying, and help NSC out :)
