Pure speculation. When Potter came to Brighton it was for the long term. Family is settled here, kids at school etc. He's not the sort of guy to commute to a job like Jose M. Also, importantly we've given a hands off message, we have a long term contract with him which would mean a big compensation package for us, and we've stated that we wouldn't sack him even if we are relegated.
No certainty of course, but we hold the cards, not Everton.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was another contract offer in the offing for the likes of Potter, Bissouma and White. Whether they sign is another thing, but we do like to keep our players contracts updated in accordance with their status.

I tend to agree with you there, there's no risk in him signing an upgraded contract. If a club really wants him, what's an extra million in compensation in comparison to the amount wasted on players wages?

Suspect Biss and White have already had improved deals (we know Ben only just signed a 4 year contract in the summer). But given the job he’s doing, and clearly, the attention GP is starting to get I hope he and his team do get an improved contract. I have no doubt Tony, as always, is probably ahead of the game on this and is already working on it.

I would be shocked if we didn't offer Bissouma a new contract months ago.

The way we play is very high risk and enjoyable to watch mostly whatever the score was I can only think of twice we didn't turn up .

Potters game is based on total trust between the players of what they're trying to do .

The way Potter has changed the clubs playing philosophy is incredible in the time he's been in charge .

The one thing that's hindered him and us as supporters is the chance conversion rate which is I think the 2nd worst in the league , then look at the chances created and we're 4th ! Mental .

So everyone on the planet now knows how good Potter is at getting a team to play his way , the jigsaw is obviously missing a vital piece and I can only assume the club will try and find that elusive 20plus goals a season striker , because in simple terms if we had that last season we would be easily in the top 8 ! .

At the moment we're a perfect fit for Potter , I would be gutted if he moved on , love the football we're playing .

Out of interest how many players scored over 20 goals last season?

I think he’d be an amazing coup for them, they have the funds to back him too.

Managers come and go. We're not reliant on having a good manager because the squad is built with their input, but also with a longer term focus than just one person. If he leaves, he'll be replaced and I don't think we'd be much weaker for it.

I do (think we would be weaker). He is recognised as the best English coach and it’s no surprise others will want him. I am hopeful that he will see his and TB’s project through to the end of his contract at least.

Also, I'm not sure he'll get the same unreserved backing and behind the scenes support anywhere else.

I'm sure [MENTION=38333]Swansman[/MENTION] would have a better 'feel' for the situation than myself, but GP does seem to be the loyal type...... so not worried too much.

Whatever happens I have confidence that the club always have a working list of managerial candidates for occasions where manager gets poached or sacked. And most the list will be people we'd probably never consider as fans.

A managerial change every year, £585m blown on a pile of average to crap players (even Ancelotti couldn’t get a song out of them), £100m accounting losses every year pre-pandemic and the stadium is 38 months away.

I'm sure [MENTION=38333]Swansman[/MENTION] would have a better 'feel' for the situation than myself, but GP does seem to be the loyal type...... so not worried too much.

I'm not Swansman, but there was definitely a lot of interest for Potter during his time in Östersund (even before the Europa League adventure), but it was sort of an open secret that leaving was never an option since he promised his son he would get to finish up his upper secondary education with his mates in town.

Well, that's just one example, but from interviews and just seeing him around town with his family there's no doubt he'd move heavens and earth for his kids, and I do believe the decision to uproot them again after such a short time in Swansea wasn't an easy one, as he's repeatedly pointed out.

And add to that those kids lost both their grandmother and grandfather over the last year, so I don't know what kind of offer would be needed for Potter to tell them to start packing boxes again for a new city. I really don't think an Everton move would do the trick.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he'd leave Brighton this summer. Or the next.

Yes, but there are times when you really don't want to have your manager poached and right now is one of them, especially when other managers and top players are involved with the Euros. By the time you get your man a big chunk of the window has gone and you are behind in your pre-season preparations.

Palace recognise this, which is why they are reputedly throwing money at Nuno to get him to sign now.
