[Football] Potter – ‘maybe I need a history lesson on this club’.

I can understand you building a Cathedral of Hate in the name of Potter if it makes you feel better. I am surprised and disappointed, however. As someone who has lost many things over the years I can assure you that it is much better to keep the feelings of love rather than wallow in recriminatory poison. These bad feeling you're embracing will stay with you a very long time. For me, I'm having none of that.

Never mind.

Best wishes

Harry, I’m surprised you’d claim that you’re the only person to have lost something or someone, that’s a bit low and I’m surprised tbh, to try to compare this to genuine grief... I know you’re a better person than that.

I’d refrain from going there if I were you.

I don’t hate anyone, again hate is a strong word - your word.

I am permitted though to view his actions through my eyes, and (as with Cucurella) I wouldn’t conduct myself in the way they have... not a chance.

Right, point made.

I’m off to listen to Kula Shakers new album which is pretty awesome.

(That will make you smile, I’m sure)

Come on. I didn't say that or even imply it. Read again what I wrote. I am simply saying I have gone both ways after loss, and avoiding recrimination is definitely preferable. I did not say I am unique or only I understand this. Seriously!

I will listen to you clip now

As always this sort of thing brings about the need for some to express their anger, some upset, some indifferent. There's no real need to call each other out over it. I got told to get the tin foil out when yesterday I said it was obvious that the club and Potter had to be aware of what was about to happen prior to the events unfolding. It has been alluded to by the press and indeed the swiftness that the whole lot ****ed off it is now almost certain agreements between the clubs had been reached before Wednesday.

The only thing I'd say about Potter is he does have thin skin when it comes to criticism. To make reference to our history in the manner he did, was crass, as to many it wasn't just history but we played a large part of it and lived the desperation on a daily basis. That day we witnessed another side of Potter, one that may bite him on the arse when he has booing ringing in his ears from the entitled.

Apologies if I read it wrong, perhaps I did - thank you for explaining your thinking... but I must stress I don’t hate GP or any of the guys who’ve left... they’re transient, that’s the point, understanding their actions is a little harder... in time things will heal... they always do :)

That did make me smile. Looks like Beachy Head and later on the horsewoman is on Rye Harbour beach, always empty and one of my favourite spots for cycling, walking and swimming

If a dozen people feel compelled to start yet another thread on basically the same thing, and they and others claim a right to do so, I'm claiming my right to express my irritation. If you don't like that (etc. etc.).

For a more considered reply, I'm saddened about what has happened, and I hope we can bring in a new team quickly. What more is there to say?

I see no point in recrimination. Some have suggested that Bloom has done something wrong (by letting Potter go?), and others seem to think the club has hit an all time low. I mean.....dear oh dear.

If it weren't for the fact I am excited about who we will appoint and want to keep up with the news, and also the other fun things on NSC (like the wordle thread and the music) I'd do what I'm doing to TV and radio for the next week.....

All that aside I apologize for being rude.

Cheers for the apology. I felt that there was more to say rather than viewing what happened as 'Man takes new job and his team with him. Previous employer starts recruitment for replacement'. I hadn't had time to read all the threads and Potter's quote about needing a history lesson really jumped out at me given the morality vacuum of a football club that he decided to join in a heartbeat.

Mad times. And despite being an armchair republican, I've even been a bit upset about the queen

if it's belittling, it's probably because you deserve it. You are bleating like a small child who has had his sweets stolen by the school bully. Grow up man. Life goes on. Look at the history of the club. This is nothing.

Deserve it? I don't think I do. I wanted to make a point that he has joined a morally bankrupt club. Will he want to discuss their history when things aren't going well? If I am bleating like a small child who is getting bullied, isn't it good that I stood up to said bully and called him out? That's possibly grown up behaviour. How do you know I'm a man!

You're right though. Life goes on and this isn't anything like 1997. Don't think we should be thankful for everything that has happened because it's not 1997 though. I wouldn't have begrudged him a different move (north London, North West, England etc) but I'm pissed off he's gone to THAT club.

Chelsea did to us what we did to Swansea, although admittedly we did it during the close season.

Potter was in a very different place at Swansea when we poached him.

That history lesson quote was a massive clue about what lay behind the facade. It was just a shocking failure to read the room from someone who the media big up to be good at this stuff. A casual statement of disrespect and a total lack of humility not to even consider that thousands of people might have a point.

Have a pop at the Chelsea fanbase Graham. I dare you

Don't care who tells me i shouldn't be livid at what has happened here. I am.

Harry, people are permitted to be a bit off about this... a bit angry... it’s normal - you know when you’re emotionally involved, and we all react differently - it’s okay, it’s allowed.

You might disagree with a ranty post, but none of us can claim to be feeling normal today - it’s a reaction to some pretty shitty news... I’m sure some will regret a few posts, but todsy isn’t a ‘normal’ day.

We can’t be all akin to a certain contributor, you know, calculating, emotionally detached, and ‘sensible’ ... passion and sensible don’t really go together.

People (sorry, genuine ticket buying fans - especially those who’ve been there and back) are shocked and hurting ... give them a break ffs.

first time i woke up in the middle of the night thinking f*ck ... this is a significant time for many.. We are on the cusp of being great

I’ll just give you a short one on ours Graham. We were saved by us fans who had to take direct action while previous owners sold off our ground. We had to make a 200-mile round trip to watch some of the worst football imaginable before getting soaked at Withdean for 10 years round an athletics track. Our club has the best community and charitable arm of any club in the UK and we reward all of our staff for any success.

Now have yourself a little lesson on that odious entity you’ve decided to front up while concurrently completely dismantling our footballing management (I cannot believe about Ben and Bruno). You’re representing a traditionally lower/middle of the road top level club watched by the rich thugs by the Kings Road. Then, due to blood/oil/corruption money (whose wealth has also massively contributed to global heating) they completely change the landscape of football with their incredible levels of spending. Stockpile footballers for profit. Every club has idiots but not many fans refuse to let black person on a train while in another country and make gas chamber noises while playing Spurs.

Enjoy John Terry and co and that oaf of an owner. I can understand the north London clubs or the North West but he really has been charmed (Gray-Ham). Thanks for your work here but I hope you don’t do well there mainly because of what you now represent.

‘incredibly proud and excited to represent Chelsea’. What on earth does that say about you Potter?

Enjoy managing those players and ‘those amazing fans’ you discussed today.

Long life Tony Bloom.

well i think that was a great post

His media rep has already come up with this bllx

G "I am very excited to partner with Chelsea's new ownership group and look forward to meeting and working with the exciting group of players and to develop a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of," said Potter.

Couldn’t agree more. The ‘history lesson’ jibe was a damning indictment of Potter for me. He never truly got our club. It was all about what the club could do for his career.

We still took their manager and coaching staff and might be doing it to another club soon.

The first team staff at Swansea City. Spot the difference.

I think it's the fact he's wiped out our entire first team staff that has left people angry.

Do you really think if Potter had wanted them and they were willing to go we wouldn't have taken them as well?

It's a foodchain and we are between Swansea and Chelsea at the moment.
