I do think there are lots of similarities with what Southampton are doing and agree with the sentiment about how it clicked for them and could for us to.

But we are a player short to make that happen ...... Southampton found the difference in Danny Ings a player who often converts the only chance they have when they have played poorly or the player who has dragged them forward and lifted other players to his level.

Problem is finding those players as obviously they don’t grow on trees and aren’t cheap.

Palace with Zaha, West Ham with Antonio, Villa with Grealish all have that player they look to who drags them through and makes the difference.

We aren’t far away from where we need to be, we just need to find that difference maker.

Exactly my thoughts. IF we can stay up this year, would like to see us spend our transfer budget on a single top drawer signing in the summer vs 2-3 players like we have already. Nunez looks like he would have been that, so we were possibly a bit unlucky there as well.

We've been saying/hoping the same thing for three years. . . .

Difference being we now look like a club that someone decent might want to join. This was never the case in our first 3 years in the division.

On the downside, that would mean an end to #undertheradar ???

Frustrated and encouraged.

Can we just get a run of good games, a bit of luck... I don't care who we play.

Good post and stats.

As I’ve been saying all season, we’re doing the right things and at some point our luck will turn and it will all click.

If you consistently do the right things and build the blocks, you will be successful in the end. Potter musn’t waiver in his belief’s and I don’t think he will.

The glass half empty view would be: ‘this is why you need to spend money on a decent striker and top level keeper’. Without that, I think he’s doing a good job with a relatively small budget and we’re great (if frustrating) to watch. Potter firmly in for me. I suspect he’ll be England manager one day.

There is no such thing as luck, DA needs to resign, GP is clueless, TB needs to sell the club to Osama Bin Laden, should never have sacked CH as the team would have been top of the league as there is no Bournemouth to lose 0-5 to, Lewis Dunk dont care since signing his new contract, Dan Burn is Championship level, definitely getting relegated this year, cant see another win at home...

Just giving you the replies so others wont need to.

Read your first paragraph and thought you are getting the hang of NSC but you spoil that in your second paragragh. 7/10 keep working on the negativity.

It does make you wonder where we might be if the club had pulled out the stops to get Nunez and Martinez over the line, both of whom we were linked with over the summer.

We can only assume ( and hope) it was for 2 reasons, NDP and TB's strict/sensible financing of the club and squad . . . whilst we don't have a 'star' in the squad, we have stability and strength in depth. . . . star induced squad instability would make a mockery of the NDP.

UNlike many PLteams we don't have a single player guaranteed a start, we do have over 20 players capable of competing at PL level however

Whilst I agree that we still need a top striker, with our luck, he would be out injured for the season after a few games!

I'll take that. No qualms. We are due some luck and some decisions that go our way.

Our first point against Liverpool since promotion.

Potter in! :clap2:

Yes, Potter in. And yes, I'm greatly enjoying the style of football that we're playing under him. It's still a refreshing change from the dour borefest previously.

But IMHO we've been at least one striker light for several seasons now. It's astonishing that it's been allowed to continue for such a long time.

Set-pieces are woeful at both ends. Exactly how many CBs do we need when we fail to adequately mark players with 3 of them?

It's very positive that with the addition of players like Lallana and Welbeck, there's real quality being introduced.

However that's negated with us being so wasteful in attack despite the plethora of chances created.

Until we sort out the finishing, we'll continue to underperform.

And fans will continue to speak uncomfortable truths.

Rinse and repeat.

Very happy with our point today though.

Of course Potter in

Can anyone still be in doubt we are going places right now. A point of European Champions and we could so easily have taken all 3.

Of course. He picked three strikers against Liverpool! We'll all take that :) not only that it was tactically brilliant to do so. He then got panned by the commentators for taking Connolly off, but that was also the right decision at the right time, that was the point when we finally got back into the midfield after Henderson had disrupted us so well.

And Ryan faced just a couple of shots in the match. He can't put the ball in the net or save the shots, but the way we set up was spot on

Right team to exploit opportunities through the high press. Right to withdraw AC when Albion had lost the midfield.

Reviving my Potter In thread.

Gotta say I think Sanchez and Mac Allister are making the difference, and in turn, giving the players around them a much needed confidence boost!

Potter is getting it right. Aaron Connolly's chance was the perfect metaphor. Can you blame Potter for that?

Our new record unbeaten run feels nice.

Should have won today but took 4 points off Villa across the two games. Martinez was tremendous.
(On that note, so glad we have Sanchez now...I could cry!!!)

Would love to take the full 6 points off Newcastle and Leeds, and hopefully we batter Palace and WBA in the next few games.

We look "in control" against almost anyone. Still lacking that final cutting edge.

I think we’ll stretch this run further. Strongly fancy us to stay unbeaten versus Palace and Brom.

In Potter we trust.

Is there anyone who’s still Potter out on this board? Each to their own, but genuinely interested...?
